This restaurant is situated in the main square in Velez Rubio, by the church. I have friends and family who are vegetarian and Martos has a brilliant selection of dishes for veggies. I especially like the aubergine with molasses (berenjenas con miel) and the mushrooms. However, the star is their solomio de cerdo (pork tenderloin) served with various sauces, I had cabrales (blue cheese) which was absolutely delicious. It gets busy during summer evenings, especially if you want to eat outside in the square. One of my favourite restaurants in the area.

Restaurant-cafeteria consisting of two large lounges and outdoor terrace, free wifi and a wide selection of traditional tapas or portions of local cuisine, an ideal place for families with children with play area where you can taste from a delicious break
Visited Ganimedes last year and again this year , watched both Champions league games as well as having 2 great meals, the waiter is a happy and friendly chap who works really hard to make sure you are looked after. Fantastic place , reasonably priced with a very varied menu . I will definately be coming again.
This friendly bar opens a terrace on the summer, at which you can sit with amazing views across the barranco to the other side of town. The service is extremely helpful and friendly and is a great place to practise your Spanish. The prices are great... the white wine more than palatable (I should know - I sank enough of it) and there's a real buzz about the place.Although I didn't have tapas on our last visit... everyone else's looked amazing and certainly went down well.Having just moved to the town - I think I've just found my new local.

A typical traditional Spanish bar located at the top end of Velez Blanco & directly opposite the imposing castle. There is a covered terraced area at the front of the premises with tables & chairs. Enter through wrought iron double doors into the bar room with an "L"-shaped bar & wooden countertop running along the right hand side of the room & fawn coloured tiling. The bar is reasonably well stocked with beers, spirits, soft drinks etc., freshly squeezed orange juice & coffee also available The bar area is partitioned off with wooden latticework screening from a charming little restaurant at the rear. There is a small flatscreen TV above the entrance to the toilets. The restaurant has been decorated to look much older than it probably is & in a traditional style with reproduction exposed brickwork, fake heavy beamed ceiling, rough plasterwork, floral curtains etc. It all blends nicely together. The tables are well spaced, laid with green tablecloths & white serviettes. Food is basic Spanish cuisine, nothing fancy. I have not eaten here since December 2015, but have no reason to think the quality of food has deteriorated. It has generally been nicely cooked & very reasonably priced. The meals here offer value for money. Drinks are very reasonably priced too.Until recently I have only seen Antonia serving at the bar, cooking & waitressing. A veritable "one man band" so to speak. During my most recent visit, April 2016, for drinks only, it was pleasing to see she had extra staff. From memory, in addition to Spanish, I think menu's are also written in English & German. Only Spanish spoken.Toilets are clean & fit for purpose. However a toilet seat would be a welcome addition.Premises disabled/wheelchair friendly, however I do not believe there are disabled toilets.A reasonable place to visit.

Located in the unique town of Vélez Blanco is our restaurant where you can enjoy a varied gastronomic offering, surrounded by a unique place.
Restaurant is sitiated a few kilometers outside of velez blanco. It is situated within a large old mill that has been sensitively restored and decor is traditional rural andalucian. Food tends to follow the same theme. Lots of local produce used and quality ingredients. Charming owner. No menu del dia and prices are top end in area for lunch.

Carnes a la brasa, amplia carta de vinos, postres caseros. En el mismo Parque Natural de Sierra MarÃa-Los Vélez, en Vélez-Rubio, provincia de AlmerÃa nos encontrarás, te esperamos.
We literally fell on this place as we needed to stop on our journey to Malaga. We went with the suggestion of the house, salad, chuleton and green peppers with potatoes. The salad was really great, amazing tuna and dried tuna, (mojama..?). Olives were amazing too.The meat is to die for... melts in the mouth. Gorgeous. Stunning plate of food.We ordered fresh fruit not knowing that you get a complementary ice cream dish aswell. It was not cheap, but it was really good food..

We have visited this restaurant many times and never been disappointed. It is rarely busy when we go, the service is first class and friendly and the food is of the highest quality. For the first time we were accompanied by my two vegetarian sister-in-laws and although the menu didn't have a lot of options, they were offered a wide choice of many things that chef could provide by the lovely lady who was looking after our table. The house wine (12â¬) was so good we actually bought a bottle to take home with us (10â¬)!!All in all a great success and we will definitely return with or without our vegetarians!
