Food here is average. Itâs nothing fancy nor overly exciting in terms of presentation and flavours. The sirloin beef we had was at least cooked medium rare which is how we like it. Having said that, we werenât asked how weâd like it prepared. So that was a bit of serendipity at play. The tuna and anchovy salad was uninspiring. Service was friendly and efficient.

Well, Santiliana del Mar is definitely worth a visit, but it is also a very busy place with hoards of tourists looking for a place to have lunch. And unfortunately most of the venues offer very standard menus and service is poor. So after having inspected and dismissed 3-4 other places, we suddenly found this place "El Canton" where we could enjoy a quiet, peaceful and delicious tapas lunch on the terrazza on the back side of the building. You can also dine inside of course (and it looked vedry nice), but we went for the sun and the fresh air. In any event, the food was awesome (albeit slightly expensive too) and the service impeccable Go see for yourself.

We had 2 enjoyable evenings at this lovely little restaurant, which has a nice outdoor covered terrace. The food was simple yet fresh and tasty. Whilst extremely good value overall the most impressive aspect was the attentive and friendly service. Whilst no English was spoken our hosts did their best to satisfy all our requirements at all times with a genuine smile.Highly recommended!

We ate an excellent meal of cocido followed by braised oxtail served by a very friendly and helpful waitress. With a bottle of wine and coffee the cost was 14⬠each. We were the only foreigners there.

Of the restaurants in the village this one was a little more modern than most in its approach and decor. Service was efficient. Surroundings clean and tasteful. It was quiet when we ate (8pm is so early for the Spanish!)We enjoyed the food apart from the sea bass not being fileted and there seemed to be more bones than fish, and my partnerâs steak, besides being a little rather than the requested medium, was rather tough to eat. My hake was lovely!

When recently on holiday we wanted a restaurant to have a traditional long Spanish style Sunday lunch out in the country. This special restaurant ticked all the boxes and whilst surrounded by fields and having the impression of seclusion it was only a ten minute drive fron Santillana del Mar. Our reception was warm and friendly and we had a wine aperitif on a large patio overlooking countryside. We ate from the 'a la carte' menu which was reasonably priced. All of our food was excellent, both in presentation and flavours. The wine list too was modestly priced with a good choice of both Spanish and international wines. Our service throughout was excellent and attentive and well paced. English was spoken by at least two waiters so all our questions were easily dealt with despite our poor Spanish. We would certainly return again if in the area. There was a large car park with an easy short level walk to the restaurant. I understand that this restaurant is a favourite venue for weddings so a check before booking is advisable.

This restaurant was recommended in both the Lonely Planet and DK Eyewitness travel guides and lived up to the testimonies. We went for the 20 euro per head 3 course meal which included a bottle of rioja. The seafood salad starter could easily have been a main course and the roast beef (which was actually a steak was too big for the plate. All served by a very friendly couple who encouraged our efforts to order in Spanish.

We had one night in Santillana and came here for lunch. Great, friendly service. The Menu Del dia was excellent value at â¬18 for 3 courses and a drink. Food was fresh and filling. You have to try the local speciality cocido montañes. I can also highly recommend the lemon mousse and cheesecake for dessert. We enjoyed the place so much we took a detour a few days later to visit the restaurant again for lunch. The restaurant is so small so booking ahead is advisable to avoid disappointment as I saw a few walk ins turned away.

Four of us (two couples) had two meals in early August 2018, both were exceptional. We sat at tables on the front patio both times, lovely location. The fixed price menu is amazing -- 15 Euro for a very generous first course, main course, and dessert. We did not need dinner that day. The restaurant is located on the "edge" of town (but everything is walking distance). The owners are very friendly and gave recommendations for other restaurants and shopping in Santillana del Mar and nearby towns. Reservations advised. On site parking is available. Perfect location for a late lunch after visiting the Museum for the Caves at Altamira.
