We have been to several restaurants during this week, but this has been the best. This is a restaurant that focuses on the quality of the food and the service, this is not a pretentious restaurant; simple and just focused on the quality of the food. This is the first restaurant where I have been asked whether the temperature of the wine was my preferred. We had an assortment of cheeses and also some good serrano ham. They brought the ham over to our table and sliced it for us. They also had a delicious Santo Tomas Barbera wine produced in Mexico. I had never had this type of grape before, but it was great. Its somewhat closer to pinot noir, but quite distinctive. Finally, the grouper spanish style with clams was superb. The dessert was spectacular, a turron ice-cream.

We are a restaurant of urban cuisine in which our inspiration have been the flavors of the market, providing new culinary techniques we have achieved dishes under a unique gastronomic concept in Puebla.
Had several breakfasts while staying at the hotel next door and they were excellent. One server spoke a bit of English and the other did not so be patient if you don't speak Spanish.

La Silla is located on beautiful Avenida Juarez. I ate there on a Saturday evening at about 8 p.m. The place was virtually empty because most self-respecting Mexicans don't eat until 10 p.m. or later. The menu focuses on meats which are grilled to order. I had a veal chop. My companion had a strip steak. Both meats were grilled the way we wanted them. The meats appeared to have been aged properly and were very tender. The wine list offers a good selection. We had a Mexican merlot. The flan I enjoyed for dessert was La Silla's riff on a traditional flan with white cake. Scrumptuous! The service throughout our meal was attentive without being obnoxious. It's rather nice to eat in a restaurant where you are not pestered with overly familiar wait staff.Put La Silla on your list. You will not be disappointed.

Passing in the street you might entirely miss this excellent restaurant. Nelhua is close to the Zocalo but the food is way better than any of the more obvious Zocalo restaurants. We went twice. Mexican food but with fine dining creativity - their chef really knows what s/he is doing and the service is very attentive. It gets such excellent reviews that we expected to find it full but there were few others there - was this because late January is low tourist season, or because no-one knows it is there? It is in a beautiful old courtyard building too. Tip: Avoid the open air restaurants on the Zocalo itself - not only is the food indifferent and the fluorescent-lighted ambiance unpleasant, but you are also constantly assailed by street performers and sellers when you really just want to eat quietly.

Sadly, I didn't find this until the end of my trip, so only ate here twice, but this is the ideal late dinner spot, unless you are looking for formal white table cloth dining (which can be easily had within a couple of blocks). The location is superb: Fronting the Zocalo next to the café (Italian Coffee Company which is actually local), this is fast food done right. There is a huge wall on one side full of fresh fruits and you can get an enormous fresh squeezed 1 liter juice for less than 45 pesos. That's more than McDonalds would charge for a fake reconstituted tiny Minute Maid OJ.The food is typical Puebla: Cemitas, tacos, quesadillas, all delicious and cheap. They offer mole until 17:00, which I never got to try. They have milkshakes / malteados as well, and although my strawberry one was good I don't think they use fresh strawberries as I was hoping. It's so cool sitting out on the patio watching everyone go by on the Zocalo and hanging out at 10:30 PM with a bunch of people drinking delicious fresh fruit instead of getting hammered at a bar. (Not knocking that but it's nice to enjoy a night life that doesn't require getting drunk sometimes). BONUS: All Poblanos that I met told me this was their favorite place to eat!

Much more than a restaurant. Experience the fusion of gastronomy, music, art, history and the spontaneous expression of life in the heart of Puebla. Fine dinning Restaurant, Museum, Jazz Club, Coffee Shop, Bar, Pub.
Probably our best meal in Puebla. The space is really pretty, and they have a museum upstairs that is worth checking out (probably after dinner) about the house, relics that were found there (including a pre-spanish tomb) and a collection of pre-Colombian artifacts. The service and the food were good, and after 9 pm they have live music. We enjoyed our dinners, which were great flavors for traditional foods, plus some Spanish dishes like Serano Ham and paella. Mole is everywhere in Puebla, but they had a good mole poblano.
