El Cubanito Restaurant

Overall, we found the restaurant a bit disappointing. However, being Miami folks our expectations could be a bit too high. The Mojitos were nicely flavored with mint, but one might suspect they were "liquor light." The roast pork was a bit dry, and pork chunks very dry. But the mixed seafood dish was pleasant, though small for the price. I do not believe this restaurant would make it in Miami -- but, again, we are not in Miami.

Don't expect any gringo tacos at this place! This is the real deal authentic Mexican food served by the owners of the small establishment. We dropped in on a Saturday at 1 o'clock in every table was full even though they only have about eight tables. Half of them were occupied by Latinos so that's a telltale sign right there. The tacos Al Pastore and Barbacoa were excellent and so were the handmade tamales. The housemaid red and green sauces are incredible ! The lunch specials are a real deal...you can get two tacos of your choice and a tamale along with refried beans and rice for about nine dollars. You can't go wrong so get there now!

This has quickly become one of our favorite family style restaurants with great Mexican food that the whole family enjoys. Portions are big here and many dishes can be shared by two persons. Taco Tuesdays are also a good deal - where else can you get a dinner of three tacos for under $3 in a sit down restaurant. Great friendly service here as well.

My husband and I ate lunch here on opening day. Everything we had was very flavorful. We had the papa rellena and beef pastelitos as appetizers and my husband had the Cuban sandwich which came with fries. He said it was the best Cuban sandwich he's ever had. I had the lomo saltado which came with your choice of beans, rice, and fried plantains. The beef was very tender and the seasoning was very good. Portions were large, food tasty, and pricing was very reasonable. The owner and chef, Rafael, came to our table to ask how everything tasted. Dom Rico is located in a small strip mall with ample parking. They are open for lunch and dinner, and take-out is available. They are closed on Mondays. We'll be back many more times!
