We visited with friends last Sunday. Stunning views from terrace. We had the six course menu. Costs 35 euros for 2 and includes a bottle of wine. The food was superb, a mixture of Spanish and French style dishes. It appeared that much thought had been put into it and the presentation was immaculate. Staff were friendly and helpful. We have already revisited once and will certainly go back again. Highly recommended and allow plenty of time to really savour the food.

We were touring around the local area when we fancied some lunch. The piglet roasting on the spit outside this restaurant looked good so we settled for La Taberna De Isidro. The suckling pig was in fact very good, the tuna salad likewise and the bill for our lunch was the lowest of the holiday. The restaurant was very full with locals and deservedly so. No English seemed to be spoken but we coped, just!
Salón de eventos, Restaurante.
This is the largest venue in Periana, and was created to cater for the events market. We attended on the Saturday of the San Juan festival, when the restaurant was serving a buffet, which it doesn't routinely do. I suspect that the management, who moved here from Verdugo in the village centre, had expected crowds, but by the time we left at around 9.30, they had not materialised. The food was good, although the selection might have been larger. There was a good mix of hot and cold foods. We particularly enjoyed the spicy noodles, a nice change from the usual Spanish fare. Prices were good too, at 14 euros for the buffet. The building is relatively new, and is is a spectacular location, with great views over Vinuela and beyond, but I think it's a little too far out of the village for people to walk to, which may be why it only opens for 3 days at the weekend. A band had been laid on when we visited, but hadn't staryed to play when we left, due to the lack of an audience. If the restaurant is busy, it would make such a difference, it was only lacking in atmosphere. I wish them well, but would prefer to see the management back in the heart of the village where they really belong.

We just stopped here for a mid-afternoon coffee while doing the PR-3 circular walk from Periana, the Ruta Rios y Aldeas, but it would clearly be worth stopping for longer. Friendly with a typical Spanish ambience, and a typical bar at the front too, but the big restaurant area at the back has the views of the valley and hills to the south. Pretty popular with locals of all ages even on a weekday afternoon in November, and must be humming on a Sunday lunchtime. Mondrón is an attractive large village to visit too. Weâll have to return for a proper meal....

Visited on tuesday evening beginning august. Had a rumpsteak which was very large but a bit fatty and chips like burger king. Ate inside which was nice and cool or there is a good size outside area with a lovely lakeview. English is understood with quite a few english customers at the time. 70 euros for 3 mains, 2 small beers, 2 glasses of wine and a desert. Not the fantastic place that some rave about but perfectly adequate for a family evening meal.

On the road in to the village with a fabulous view from their terrace.Very quiet evening with only one other couple in the inside restaurant . Very nice homely room. Served by a delightful waitress who couldnât speak any English but we understood each other! Didnât seem to have any of the wines on the wine list which was quite entertaining - the one she brought us was fine though! Best garlic mayonnaise weâve had and the pork chops were HUGE ! Menu was very meat based and simple . Enjoyed our meal, pleasant evening.

We visited here with the recommendation of family members who now reside in local village. The drive from Piriana is not for the faint hearted as you drive up a steep hill-side with single track road and the views are fantastic. On arrival at El Canuelo the views over the countryside and lake are truly breath taking. Now on to the food A lovely menu that's not too extensive and something to suit all tastes. We recommend sharing salad for starters (Moroccan) was lovely with olives. traditional food on offer with local dishes. Everybody have something different and enjoyed home made food.a real gem if you know where to go and well worth the drive if you fancy a rural setting and prices ae very reasonable in comparison to tourist areas

Verdugo's has been a longstanding favourite of ours and of our friends for years - cheap, huge portions of typical Spanish food, simply and excellently cooked, very popular with locals and expatriates alike, and with Antonio at the centre of it all - friendly, highly efficient, welcoming. The great news is that that's all still true (& indeed we had a selection of dishes for an evening meal with a friend this time that weren't even on the menu: we just asked Antonio what he'd recommend). The bad news is that the place is up for rent - and it's not yet clear how quickly it'll change hands, and indeed whether a new owner or tenant would keep it going as a restaurant. There are 2 new restaurants or bars in the main street now so there's still plenty of choice, and another of the restaurants further up the road on the opposite side has been refurbished too, but Periana won't feel the same without Verdugo's at the centre of it. Go there quick, while you still can.

Dine in style in a traditional Spanish Finca with exceptional sea, lake, and mountain views. Relaxing inside or outside on our terrace you can enjoy Mediterranean food at its best.
My first time back for over two years but the restaurant was as good as ever. Located on a spur overlooking Lake Vinuela, the gardens surrounding the restaurant are a mass of colour with hundreds of butterflies (and wasps). From the terrace the views are spectacular. The food is not bad either. The main change since a few years ago is the offer of a wide range of tapas and a small a la carte selection. We chose five dishes from the tapas section and they were all very good: deep fried aubergines with cane honey, deep fried squid with garlic sauce, fried fish (really good) and chips with tartare sauce, patatas bravas and grilled prawns with garlic sauce, which we shared. Finally, we each had a dish from the tapas section which could not be shared; a ramikin filled with patatas bravas and chorizo, topped with a fried egg, really good (and very filling)For pudding I enjoyed the fig pudding served with orange sauce. We retreated indoors when the wasps came hunting and came outside again for coffee. This is a thoroughly enjoyable venue for lunch with great views and food; the reward for the drive into the hills by Periana and the unmadeup road to the restaurant!
