An establishment popular with the locals. Just across the bridge from the main highway. The food is excellently prepared and presented. English menu is available. The grilled mushrooms may be the best in Spain. The service is attentive and friendly. Free parking is available. The prices are reasonable.

Traditional Asturian food with typical dishes such as Fabada, Fabes con Almejas (bean stew with clams), Hake cooked in cider, etc. Home-made desserts.
Restaurant Covadonga â Panes. On our trip to the âPicos da Europaâ, we took the interior road to continue our way to Santillana Del Mar. On this road we passed at noon the small village of Panes and so we took the time for a short break and to eat something in the local âRestaurant Covadongaâ which is also a hotel. It is Located in the centre of town centre just next to the church. It is preparing the traditional cuisine, we had the âBean Stew or FABADAâ and a âVeal Steakâ, together with this we asked a bottle of Red House wine, and two coffees, and we did paid for everything about 38â¬. The interior of the restaurant is local style and cosy, so we can warmly recommend this restaurant, when you pass by, do not hesitate to go for a diner and enjoy your meal as we did.

Family dinner outing started with warm welcome and menus in Spanish and English. Croquettes to share for the kids along with some excellent regional starters the highlight being the house speciality "casa marisa" squid. Massive portions for starters so most were unable to finish but brave attempts made by all. Main courses continued with the enormous portions proving the value for money is not just lip service. Beef and veal steaks are wonderful and the local livestock must be well fed as were we. Highlight for this course was the leg of lamb with a simple salad. Deliciously simple. Kids portions are also huge as 2 of the kids just shared 1 handmade burger and were stuffed after it. Deserts were lovely and the caramelised rice pudding(served cold) was an absolute winner. 3 courses for 5 adults & 3 kids including 2 bottles of vino, 2 beers and several soft drinks was only â¬185!! Awesome food for awesome prices, would recommend to everyone.

Certainly the best meal we had, of a lovely salad with meat and chicken mains. With 1 glass of wine, water and a coffee it came to early euros 20 per head. With no sign of a bill or the menu giving the prices it's hard to know how it was calculated. It was accompanied with a couple of tapas, all beautifully prepared. Just felt it was a bit steep.

Good food and a reasonable price, more bar than restaurant, two televisions and the flashing lights of a game machine spoiled and ambience.

The two of us enjoyed everything about the restaurant until....The rice pudding arrived....My rice pudding was heavily salted.... Really SALTED... through and through ...Including the carmelized top. I remained quiet and ate most of the rice pudding not wanting to insult the chef or waiter. I finally asked my Friend to taste my rice pudding. His reaction was that it was completely different than his and that it tasted burned and salty .... Not anything like his. This could have been a simple mistake ... My friend (who's first language is Spanish told the waiter what had happened....Nothing was said to us when we paid the bill and left the restaurant other than a big smile from the waiter. If this was an honest mistake ....something should have been said to us.I apologize if I had done anything to upset the waiter or the chef.If this was the case, I would like an explanation of what that was so I never do it again. The only thing I can think of is that I had used the napkin that had been under the soup kettle to pick up a piece of food from the floor and placed the crushed napkin beside the dish. This crushed napkin may have been seen as a dislike of the food and an insult to to the chef. On the contrary, everything had been delicious up to the serving of the rice pudding. This is the first time I have ever given a review and will happily amend to very positive with a proper explanation from the restaurant.

My kids and I loved this pretty cafe in Panes. Gentle atmosphere, friendly staff who were very patient with our limited Spanish, and great food in huge portions. We were advised not to get one dish each as it would be too much and sure enough the delicious salmon salad comfortably fed 2-3. Glad we found this on our last day.

Small but cozy restaurant , set in a rural style and traditional Asturian.
We were staying in Panes, using the Peakme language school; an unlikely mixed group of would-be Spanish scholars out to explore a little further afield than the bars and restaurants in the village. This was recommended by our walking guide, Jesus; so 5 of us booked Rafa the local taxi driver to take us there and back (total cost x 2 trips since 5 was a bit of a squash and return journey 20 euros and well worth it!).Great service, great local fayre and very reasonable prices - you need to book - recommended!
