Also known as "the Marranillo", this is a really good known place to visit for the poor folks in Palencia. For as low as 50 Euro you and your family can eat a really great number of big snacks and typical dishes - but nothing healthy food, I promise you - of Palencia's meat.If you want to know Palencia in its deepest way, you should visit "the Marranillo", with no debt. But you should take care with the folks you can find around the Trompicon. Bad guys, poor people, workers and really geekfest people can be found them visiting the Trompicon each day.And it is even worst during the night!.But this is the genuine deep pallentine's mistery experience.Good Luck!. Three of us tried the delights of this great restaurant, the portions are big , we had Crevittes that were the size of langoustines (They filled the plate about a dozen or so), potatoe and ham croquettes that were delicious and loads of them. There is a large selection of steaks available here and any size you want , (You can pay by the KG). The only warning is that the medium steaks come out Med rare , and if you ask for medium rare , well, a good vet could have brought it round.Saying this , the food was excelllent the service spot on , and nice local white wine available also. We would go back again.

This place sets itself apart from the rest in Palencia, with its stylish interior space and design, eclectic touches to traditional regional plates, and attentive, knoweledgeable service, especially regarding its wine list by the glass. We ordered the lomo bajo (steak), raised in the mountains of Palencia (Cervera is the denomination of origin), which was succulent and perfectly grilled. Fantastic! We spoke with the bartender/waiter Jorge who guided us through three rounds of red wines, with ease and cordiality. If I'm back in Palencia, I will definitely go back!!

A few weeks ago, my wife and I had three meals at Palencia. One was overpriced and mediocre, the other two were great. The best of all was the one at Perejil, all in terms of service, food quality, and value. From the street, Perejil does not look very attractive, the entrance is small and part of minuscule bar, but once you go through this area, you get to a small dinning room unusually decorated with nice wall tiles and a lot of bric&brac. By the way, a paper cut out holding the menu of the day, is placed on the street to invite you in.We found the day's menu quite ample, with about 5-6 choices for the first and second plates. We ordered our food, and everything went perfectly. The food was very tasteful, well prepared and in generous portions. The service was homey and very friendly. We enjoyed this meal very much and we were quite happy with the value the menu offered. On our journey through Northern Spain, we ate at more elegant and/or expensive places, but none gave us greater satisfaction than this small and modest restaurant.

I was immediately made to feel welcome and the staff displayed awareness of special dietary requirements. There was a good range of dishes to choose from and everything was well prepared and tasty. It's a little pricey but worth the extra money for the quality.

This is the king of the "Bravas"and you cannot miss the "mejillones escocesa". I dont think you can find any "palentino"(local) that doesn't know about this place. But don't expect a fine restaurant, be ready to eat while you stand up, because this is just a quick stop bar, just a drink and something to eat, what most people call "caña y tapa". SOme years ago used to be very cheap, really really cheap, but now, it became so popular that the prices in my opinion are "fat", if I am not mistaken a plate of bravas was 3 or 3.5 euros!! Also it is true that I remember the price in pts, when for 200pts (now it would be 1.2 euros) you could get the same bravas' plate. But, this doesn't keep me away from stopping by everytime i come back to my hometown. yummy yummy.

Well known chef (Alberto Soto) has opened a second restaurant in Palencia. Small dining room for about 25 people, where every one can enjoy the nice decoration, the quiet ambience with non-intrusive, even good, music. The service is excellent: staff is attentive but not overwhelming; the china is tailored to the dishes and nicely surprising at times. The wine selection is wide and at good prices (for 25 euros/bottle we got an excellent "crianza" from famed Ribera region). I nearly forgot: the food was excellent! Great local produce well treated and cooked. We took a set menu (not much choice there) with numerous servings that was well balanced, really really tasty, imaginative and brilliantly served. All (incl. water and coffee) for 45 euros plus wine. I recommend booking in advance.Thank you for your opinion. You have perfectly described the philosophy of our restaurant. That our gastronomy, workers and decoration adapt and provide a pleasant environment is one of our goals. Thanks again.
