Los Arcos

Went there this weekend with friends, by their recommendation. I had the shrimp ceviche tostada, very good and their shrimp consome. My friend ordered the "pan de elote" dessert, very good. I have eaten corn bread, mom from Memphis, TN, but not as a dessert, flan style. All dishes that we ordered were good and excellent service.Thank you for your comment. It´s very important to us to know our customer's experience in Los Arcos. We are pleased to know that you enjoyed the food and the service. We hope to see you soon!

El Castor

Reviewed By CarolDM1900

This place, a local favorite that's been around for decades (many adult patrons who bring their children here came with their parents when they were kids), offers a casual atmosphere and very well prepared typical "carne asada" (grilled steak) that can be bought by the portion, by the kilo, or by the "parilla" featuring a variety of steak types (including the "arrachera" or skirt steak that is popular here) to feed 4 or 5 people. Prices are modest and quality is very good. Come early because this small restaurant fills up quickly, especially on weekends, when it is really lively.Don't be afraid to come here even if you don't speak Spanish. You'll generally find someone with enough English to explain the dishes. Do bring a good appetite, as portions are generous and you will also want to sample side dishes like "frijoles charros," pinto beans stewed with onion, garlic, bacon, tomatoes and other tasty ingredients, a favorite of the "charros" or traditional Mexican horsemen, the ones favoring those amazingly ornate costumes. Guacamole is also good, as are the refried beans. Nicely spiced bean soup is included with steak orders. Adults and kids alike seem to enjoy the giant fish-bowl like glasses of lemonade with a big dollop of sherbet. But, if you prefer, you can order beer, tequila, and other alcoholic beverages. The inside decor adds to the fun, with walls hung from table top to ceiling with pictures of local cultural and artistic celebrities, some going back many years, others more contemporary. They're great to look at while you're munching on tasty chips and salsa, awaiting the main course. The red and white checked tablecloths, wooden platters showing years of burn marks, and artisanal pottery salsa bowls overflowing with spicy goodness all combine to make things feel friendly and welcoming. These things also suggest the local character of the place: you'll know you're not in Kansas anymore. For a night out with family or friends to enjoy a convivial evening of traditional food that will fill your stomach and not empty your wallet, you really can't go wrong with "El Castor." It's a little hard to find, and traffic can be pretty fierce, so get a map or get instructions if driving, or just take a cab. All the cab drivers know the place. ENJOY.

Restaurant Los Cabritos Alameda

Reviewed By Tecolutla11

Los Cabritos has existed in the heart of Monterrey for at least forty years. It is on Aramberri Street, near the Zoo and other attractions as well. This part of downtown Monterrey is truly old Monterrey. Many bus routes and taxis converge at this point, and the famous 'Alemeda Park' is just across the street.Los Cabritos has always been renowned as a great place to eat young goat (Cabrito) meat, be it the Rinonada or the Paleta part of the goat. It is a delicacy in this modern, metropolitan area of Northern Mexico. As a Medical student, this restaurant was a favorite of my brother and myself, but for a different reason! We loved the rich, flavorful hamburgers that were sold here! Perhaps they are the best in the City, but with so many newer places to get hamburgers, I cannot be certain. What I am certain about is the great food served at this Restaurant! You simply must try the Cabrito as a plate, and see for yourself why this meal is such a specialty of the region. When you walk in, the are numerous cabritos that can be seen from the window, enticing the visitor to enter and taste this Monterrey specialty. The drinks and beers were reasonable, as was the total environment. Great service from experienced waiters (that usually speak English), and with great care taken to make you feel at home. And, if you come back to see the Alameda again, stop in and order the outstanding hamburgers!! You will never forget them.

The staff is super prepared and knowledgable, amazing service. Then comes the food, Spanish chef Bruno Oteiza, outdoes himself. The waiter suggested to order half plates for all the appetizer so we could taste more dishes, they were all amazing.I'm so sad they didn't open this restaurant in Mexico CityA must if you are in Monterrey
