I have been to this lovely restaurant so many time since it opened! We love going there with friends, or taking the kids, since the food is outstanding, the ingredients extremely fresh (yesterday we had brotola, the local and delicious fish) the service wonderfully friendly and the atomosphere pleasant and relaxed. The builing is an old house, beautifully restored, in front of lovely Plaza del Vigia, with its tower that can be seen from the patio. It really is fine dining for a mid-range price.

We decided to go with a large group of friends (all of them Punta del Este residents), to try out this newly opened restaurant. We booked one day in advance a large table at 20:00, and most of us were there on time........much to our surprise, they started preparing the fire for the barbecue.......at 20:10..... No need to tell you that we ended up having the first piece of cooked meat at 21:15 !!! No planning, no preparation. To add insult to injury, we ordered three mixed appetizers to share while we waited for the main course. 40 minutes after we placed the order they realized that they had never told the cook about it. We ended up canceling it !! Folks, I think we can understand that mistakes are made, and particularly on a recently opened restaurant. What is inadmissible is that aside from a reluctant apology for the mix-up and the monstrous delay, there was no effort from the owner to redress the matter. She could have offered a free bottle of wine, or a couple of free meals on our next visit, or just a small token of appreciation to have us eventually return to the restaurant. Nothing, zilch. They don't´t have the foggiest idea of what is customer service. The result is that they now have 16 of us which will never return, and, even worse, we will be sure to spread the word. It's a pity because the place is nice, and the food is not too bad.Thank you for your review however you have reviewed us twice - once in Spanish and once in English - as this is not allowed on TripAdviser, I have asked TripAdvisor to take one of these down as it brings down our review ratings. Furthermore, I did try to approach your table (I being the owner of Nuestra Mesa) - I went with the waiter to try to resolve the fact that he did not enter your appetizer into the system. I was waved off without being given a chance to speak and told very clearly to forget it and bring your main course. This is what I instructed my staff to do. Sometimes there is no way to heal a problem if the client is not willing to allow you to do so. The waiter was on trial and did not make it to the Nuestra Mesa team and I am sorry to say that as much as I appreciate your comments you are clearly overstating what happened in a very unfair way. I hope our clients read this review and understand that every customer is important to Nuestra Mesa and this exeprience is definitely one that never happens at Nuestra Mesa.

Service was great, food was even better. Prices were moderate but more than fair for the quality. I will definitely be going back.

No question that the kitchen puts outs some really creative, interesting sounding fare, much of it twists on classic local or Spanish dishes. And service is delightful. The problem for us came in that the creativity seems to come without the backup of solid cooking. The old adage of "taste, taste, taste" for any aspiring cook or chef seems to have been lost here, as each dish just simply... lacked, in seasoning and balance. With a group of four, we'd pretty much planned to make our way through most of the menu - but after sampling a quintet of the tapas, we looked at each other, called it quits, and went to a bar for chivito sandwiches. Fairly expensive, too, especially for tapas sized plates.

Autentic Uruguayan food, second to none wine cellar with "hard to find" Uruguayan wines. Reasonably priced, you can enjoy the best of the Uruguayan barbacue, but also very good menu range, from pasta to fish and vegetarian options.
Seemed like the best local option to the Hyatt round the corner. Good atmosphere with a log oven that looked like the inside of a nuclear furnace. A tasty little free pizza to start and we opted for two Milanese escalopes. They were offered in beef or chicken and we plumped for the beef expecting veal (sorry, I know!) One with decent chips and the other with a good salad. It was tasty but it looks like they use huge slices of beef so itâs not quite the same. A big hearty meal though. Good wines by the glass and great service. Queues were forming as we left at 23:00

Had an excellent meal here, the lamb was fall off the bone tender, octopus cooked to perfection, the BEST I've ever had. Service was excellent, dessert was not too sweet which was perfect. For wine, 2 entrees and a dessert out bill was less than $100CAD. An outstanding meal.

I went to this charming but small restaurant/bar for brunch. The highlight was the french toast with sliced fruit and honey. It was fantastic. The service was very friendly. They do not accept credit cards. BTW it is a short walk to the National Cemetery which is worth a visit after you eat at The Candy Bar.

Fusion cuisine with European, Latino and Asian influences, one of the most famous Chef in the country. Unique dishes in relaxed and elegant room. Good wine list tables, should be reserved.
We had dinner there last night 11/05 and we ordered as first courses the Thai salad and the duck ham - bough very well done dishes - great presentation too, as next course we had the steak (Lomo ) and I ordered one of their signature dishes the chicken curry and while the lomo was also excellent with a side of rucula salad and goat cheese, my curry was disappointing - I did ask for a level 2 spicy ( out of 3 ) and my dish was less than 0 in flavor - also I would think made the day before and warmed up (but of course cannot be sure ) anyway that was the only downside - as desert we had a choclate mouse with a topping of orange cream and all good - service a bit slow but the place was packed so no problem there - the owner was present the the restaurant was humming =
