Grab a seat outside or a stand up table inside. Have someone hold your place, then secure a plate from the bar staff and jostle with the crowd as you select pintxos from items on the bar, or take additional selections from the menu, the octopus looked delicious. After ordering beer or wine, pay the ticket and enjoy. If you speak basque or Spanish, ask questions, otherwise be adventuresome. Everything we tried was excellent and the beer on a hot July evening was ice cold.

Great service and excellent food in this family owned restaurant. On the backside of this restaurant you will find a typical "fronton" where you can play "pelota basca".The interior of the restaurant is very cozy and elegant with fine white tablecloth, candlelight and a nice fireplace (used only in winter). The food and wine selection are great, maybe a little bit on the expensive side. We had a fantastic fresh "rodaballo" (Turbot) and also the "bonito" (finest tuna fish) were prepared simply (basque cuisine) and with love (perfect cooking: not a dry fish). We recommend this restaurant for Families, friends and couples.

This is an amazing fish restaurant. We were lucky to get in without a reservation. The waitress had as much English as I have Spanish (nearly zero) which resulted in an array of food been ordered that wasnât quite what we though we ordered. Steak became a hake! Thankfully we love hake and it was a genuine treat. Portions are very generous and we over ordered. Every dish was delicious. When we got the bill we couldnât believe just how reasonable it was. Wine is very good value. We had a great fun here. Loved the family atmosphere too. An eclectic mix of people dining. Loved it. Love the town too. Good morning! Thank you for your visit and opinion. Love to see you liked our food an atmosphere. Wé´ll try to improve our english anyway...! Hope to see you back again!

Iñigo Lavado is one of Irun's best-known chefs with two restaurants (one on top of the other) and I found his reputation to be well-deserved. This restaurant at the basement offers a quality fare at a reasonable price.I had a gazpacho-type vegetable soup for starters (salmorejo) and cod with peppers as a main course and I found the quality to be outstanding: fresh ingredients cooked with a healthy bent. For dessert, the lemon sorbet was not spectacular but more than adequate considering the whole meal set me back less than â¬15.The atmosphere also helped: spacious, well-lit and roomy throughout within FICOBA Exhibition Centre less than 400 yards from the French border. The service was courteous and helpful. Altogether, a pleasant experience and I one that I recommend without hesitation.

Being Gourmet is knowing how to live, you learn to enjoy the little things, a glass of wine, a look, a smile, of a piece of cheese, good company of old friends and friends to come ... In the heart of old Hondarribia and surrounded by history, we invite yo
Thanks to TripAdvisor we researched the town before going picked this restaurant and booked.Ok so bad points, it's small I would say 30 covers and it's bar stools at the table. This is totally outweighed by the good points. The staff were great, not fluent English, but enough to explain the dishes and recommend wines etc.The food is very well presented and the flavours are fantastic. Portion size depends on the dish, some are huge some are quite small and you can't tell from the price so ask the great staff. The chef /owner has a great talent and passion for the food and came out to speak to each table during the night to see what we thought.Lastly the price, we were a large group and had lots of wine and great food in what can only be described as a modern restaurant with classical roots, I would say as good as some of the best I have eaten in all for less than â¬35 each.

Staying for one night in Hondarribia, so dutifully looked on Trip Adviser for a suitable restaurant. Monday, or Tuesday evenings are not good for choice in Hondarribia. The first three restaurants on the list were closed, so we made a bit of a trek to the Jaizkibel which is hidden away in an affluent residential area. Getting back to the walled town in the dark was harder, but we managed because we found one person to ask for directions, (in Spanish.). The meal was well worth the adventure. It was excellent. We had the 3 course set menu for just less than 30â¬. Very good value as we could choose any dish on the a la carte menu. The amuse a bouche was lovely, a nice touch. The wine we chose, a Rioja was also very good value. The surroundings and service were of a very high standard. A perfect end to our Spanish holiday. Would definitely recommend it.

... actually got a nice one, but a bit on the hard side and definitely not at the level of others had in the area. Overall enjoyable dinner, big portions and a very nice athmosphere.

We made a last minute reservation and were happy to get a table. It was one of the less nice tables in the restaurant and we asked whether we could change the table. They said they allocate tables in order of reservation (which is totally fine) and they were fully booked. When we left at 11pm some tables were still empty though. We had the big tasting menu with accompanying wines. The first two or three courses were a bit disappointing but after that food was great and we had some nice surprises (never had teardrop peas before). Presentation of food was ok although we can recommend a âBib Gourmand ratedâRestaurant in Donostia-San Seba which is far more ambitious regarding food presentation. The wine pairing was certainly well chosen. I little downside was the fact that the sommelier could perform his presentation in English but was not really able to have a conversation about it. The town is cute by the way so if you just come from San Seba to eat there, Plan at least some time for a walk before dinner.

Have eaten here a number of times now when stopping at the Ibis in Irun. A busy, but friendly bar and two dining rooms which can get extremely busy with locals. Always have the Pulpo (octopus) for starter, this is a generous portion and could quite easily be shared between 2/3 people. have tried the mixed grill and also the roast pork. never failed to enjoy my visits and will definitely visit again next time I am passing through this part of Spain.
