Discover Restaurants offering the best Spanish food in Holbox Island, Quintana Roo, Mexico. Flamingos and pelicans and herons…oh my! Holbox Island is beloved by bird nerds for its population of exotic avian life. Perched near the Yucatan Peninsula, the island is also a hot spot for whale shark viewing, and kiteboarders love the shallow waters and wide beaches. The white sand streets are relatively unspoiled, as most tourists prefer to party it up in nearby Cancun. A splash in Yalahao Lagoon is about as loco as it gets.

Went here for lunch and were really impressed with the quality and the size of the portions. We had ceviche, a huge plate and aguachile also massive. A side of guacamole and 2 soft drinks. Everything was delicious and perfect. Would highly recommend to stop for lunch

The sunset brought me there. I ordered a langosta with butter. The butter had never been put in the fridge clearly and smelled very bad when boiled.Rice and carrots were room temperature, in a small portion. The butter spoilt it all.The langosta was supposed to be 350g ,and the cook gently brought me a second small tail to give me the right grams, but with cream instead of butter. I was so disgusted by the taste of the first tail that I told him, poor chef. I should admit that the second tail with cream was very good, it makes me wonder if in addition to the bad butter the first langosta tail was a frozen one.

I would strongly recommend the Sirenita. Their menu is simple and totally Mexican but everything is genuinely homemade in the open kitchen/dining area and the service is great. They will accommodate tweaks to their menu to suit but most of all the food is just great. Try the 'Caldo especiale' and the Panuchos but everything we had, and we tried almost everything, was top nosh!

The restaurant is located parallel to the main street so easy to reach. When we first entered this restaurant the owner gave us a warm welcome and we felt like visiting friends. The decoration on the walls is typical mexican with pictures of Frida Kahlo. Every dish was freshly made by the lovely owner and she even offered us different vegetarian options. The food was really good and typical mexican. We liked it that much that we went there again and every time enjoyed the great atmosphere and typical mexican food. We really recommend this nice place to everyone visiting holbox.Go there and enjoy. :-) We will definitely come back :-)

This is the typical mexican Cenaduria, we have the most common dishes made in Jalisco, like pozole, flautas, siles, tortas ahogadas and many more... This is a must in Isla Holbox. La Tapatia!!
We came upon La Tapatia as we strolled about town and were drawn to the courtyard bar with the colorful murals. We sat at the bar and commenced to chat with Jamie the bartender and Gina , one of the servers. Jamie makes straight up the best cocktails we had on the island. Forget Margaritas, try some of the specialty cocktails on the menu. We had the Catrina and the Diablito. Both so good and really interesting flavors of Mexican liquors. Jamie was happy to recommend unforgettable tequilas (oh.....Santanera.....) and Mezcals. Gina shared with us about the Mexican microbrew scene. Loved this place and the great people working here. Food looked good although we didn't eat here and the idea of the play set in the courtyard for the kiddies is brilliant for exhausted parents to take a break and enjoy. Thanks so much, Jamie and Gina, you were a big part of why we loved our visit to your island so much!

I tried the "empanadas de pollo" (chicken empanadas), they were so good!!! and I also got some "alfajores", which are like 2 cookies with "dulce de leche" in the middle that were delicious. I wish I've got more... The following day it was closed and we were leaving. It's a small place where you buy to go. Stop by for a treat!

This place has a couple of names on it, you'll know when you go upstairs to the open air dining area. Dona Rosita welcomes you and oversees the help and does the cooking. A great and varied menu of seafood. Each entree comes with rice and a salad, bread or tortillas (flour or corn, harina o maiz). We came by two days later, and Dona Rosita remembered us and said hi (even though we were on our way elsewhere). When we passed by later that night, it was raining, we said hi and she offered her shaw to my wife who was in shorts and short sleeves (a chilly 74°F that night). Lovely, nice people and great meals.

We eat at several restaurants in Holbox, this place was nice and okey, but not one of the top 5. The drinks were no good. A starter was really good, fish croquettes. The main courses were okay. Nothing special.

Be sure to eat here at least once during your stay. Specializing in a unique item I havenât ever had before makes this place stand out. Now that I have had tortilla espanola I wonât ever forget it. Perfect for breakfast, brunch or lunch. Amazing quality perfectly prepared and delicious I would call this comfort food and very satisfying. Hubby had the classic served with a couple of house âsaucesâ so good and so simple. Canât go wrong with potato egg and cheese. I had the version with Chaya and cheese it was good too.

El mejor restaurante de carnes de la Isla. Verduras grilladas y sabrosas pastas. En un elegante ambiente, con dedicada atención.
We were here in January and enjoyed our dinner. We were looking forward to another diner when we arrived in June. I donât know what has happened since we last visited and this will be our last time. FoodWas just ok. It wasnât great like last time. We were the only table in the restaurant and right after our food was delivered to our table all the staff left the building. Never in my life have I seen that happen! They never asked if our food was good, didnât pour our wine. When they did come back, the waitress, sat in a chair at the grill /bar and chatted on her phone. The man who was so amazing 6 months ago, brought out our food and wine, was distant and unwelcoming. Im not sure what is going on at this place but if this continues I donât think they will be in operation in another six months. We were the only ones in the restaurant, is it so hard to give good service to one table??? Food was mediocre at best. Disappointing
