Reviews on Spanish food in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. The inland city of Guadalajara is bursting with history and culture. Many attractions are in the city's historic center and in the neighboring city of Zapopan. Museums, parks and churches flourish alongside bullfights, rodeos and soccer (futbol). Nearby are the towns of Tequila, where the liquor of the same name is produced, and Tlaquepaque and Tonala, where artisans create an abundance of Mexican handicrafts. Mariachi, which originated in the area, is a common sight and sound in Guadalajara.

Brick SteakHouse is one of the best culinary experiences Iâve had in Guadalajara. The design of the place makes for a comfortable, yet sophisticated ambience. The service was not only friendly and helpful but they were attentive to our needs. The quality of the food was superb. Our Porterhouse was cooked to perfection and the sides were flavourful. The desserts were second to none. We had the cornbread with dulce de leche and the cassoulet of berries and chocolate, amazing. Also, they have a great selection of local, artisanal beers as well as great wine list which is well priced. This place is a must.

The experience of going to the market, see, smell and touch all the ingredients , that they will be tranform in the kitchen. This is what we do all days.
The writing was on the wall - the moment we sat down...this was labeled as "Spanish restaurant"...first thing they offered was an assortment/menu of Gin and tonics???, where is the Rioja wine. I asked for a cold bottle of Albarino...the waiter looked puzzle and immediately said "we do not have it"...I looked at the wine list and right on the top line is Rias Baixas Albarino...they had it on the menu but no wine, we ordered a french wine that it was corked, tried another choice and they could not find it...so my friends and I decided to leave the table. I must say the maitre D' was very kind when I asked him to get us a taxi. Too bad I was in the mood for Spanish wine and food.We are so sorry your experience with us was so bad, We are working hard to improve this details, In your visit the Manager was not there and the waiter was new. We are terrible sorry for this disaster. If you can give us another chance we will gladly invite you the dinner and try our really experience. You can't go wrong with the Seafood Tacos Dorados, any flavour really, but with their chipotle and habanero mango jellies they are just over delightful!

After eating tortillas for days our group decided to switch to European. Authentic Spanish cuisine seems like a natural switch. We were greeted by a wonderful host owner. The menu was on a chalk board because all items are cooked fresh and change daily .We decided on paella negra and rabbit. Both were excellent. The wine selection was from Spain and not expensive. The desserts were wonderful. The experience was outstanding.....if you want true Spanish in Mexico El Cargol will make you smile.

I went to Ventresca on my own. I had a delicious tuna tartar, a very nice solomillo and a so-so dessert (crema catalana foam). One thing they could improve is the temperature at which wine is served: a Mexican merlot I ordered was way too cold to enjoy. Nobody wants to wait 20 minutes to be able to enjoy your glass of wine.
