Reviews on Spanish food in El Hierro, Spain. The volcanic island El Hierro has evolved from an ancient civilization to a prime (yet still pristine) destination for elite divers and beach lovers who crave remote beauty. The waters are calm and brimming with unusual sea life, while aboveground the landscape is peppered with ancient and twisted trees. Explore the lovely villages and hilly stone-laid paths on foot, then feast on rustic meals of fresh fish, local cheeses and wild herbs.

The menu is mainly meat oriented (my friend had black pig and it was very good). The quality of food is good, not outstanding though. They donât have any written menu or blackboard- the chef tells you directly what you can order- so you cannot see the prices and it creates a âdark âsensation, they can charge you on an individual basis.

"Guachinche Aguadara" is a restaurant located in a rural area where you can have a lunch or dinner while you enjoy whit its spectacular views. It has WiFi, free parking and kid zone. This menu is based on typical food, grilled meats and homemade desserts.
We did not try many restaurants in el Hierro, but did one we were really suprised for the quality for the food, the cheese was amazing and the goat as well. It is really great if you have small children as there is a small playground in the restaurant. The price for the quality and quantity was good.

We had been on a tour of the island and were looking for somewhere for lunch. This little place is not particularly noticeable, but is not to be missed!English is not their forte, but they are really friendly and helpful.Ladies loos are really clean! They do charge you for the bread and mojo but the main course made up for it.I had ordered what I identified as pork-it was two HUGE pork chops- him indoors got one, and I checked out his mixed meats: pieces of different meats marinated and baked served on a bed of fried onion. Both were excellent and served with gorgeous chips. With two fizzy waters and two café con leche 21 euros.Excellent service, and well used bar/restaurant- particularly by locals which says a lot

A taste of local cuisine, fresh seafood and plenty of international choices in a relaxing and magic atmosphere: in the cozy charmy restaurant hall or on the stunning terrace. Great food and a wonderful view!
Stopped at this beautiful spot for lunch and we were delighted. The setting is magnificent with crashing waves. We shared a lovely duck and pear salad and then ordered the prawn paella. One of the best weâve had. After the complimentary coffee granita we ordered two puddings - local pineapple with pineapple gel and pineapple foam plus delicious chocolate mouse with white chocolate slices. All absolutely yummy and the best meal weâve had in the Canary Islands. The staff were excellent and next time we hope to stay in the tiny hotel and enjoy dinner in the restaurant.

A big portion meat, some pommes frites and nothing. Much meat is not enough, should also be tender and taste something. Local OK but notenough!

We had a couple of fabulous lunches here. The fish were Alfonsinos, a sort of deep water bream, with big eyes and delicate rosy skin, susceptible to overcooking. Ours- we had big ones between two people- were exceptional, and exceptionally well-cooked. Sweet and juicy with some salad and wrinkled potatoes (papas arrugadas) and sauces, 'mojos', picon (spicy. Red) and verde (herby. Green). We had some wine and complimentary shots of the local hooch. The service could not have been friendlier. Fair play to them, they displayed the LGBTQ flag as well. We paid about â¬40. Great value.

La Higuera de la Abuela is a restaurant set in a beautiful garden patio planted with succulents, cacti, bougainvillea, oleander, and hibiscus. We were fortunate arriving in time to take the last outdoor unreserved table for lunch. The wait staff were friendly and helped with translations. Our meal consisted of grilled local red tuna, fried peppers, stuffed mushrooms, finishing with a very tasty tres leches dessert. Very nice!

We visited this little restaurant situated prominently overcooking Restinga Harbour twice and any issues we had were really of out own making by not having basic Spanish. This little restaurant only seats about 12 people and is a popular spot with both locals and visitors alike. There is no English spoken (which is not unusual on the island) and hence a little bit of even pigeon Spanish will greatly enhance your choice and dining experience, or you can follow our example by pointing at the menu and wondering / hoping for the best as to what was going to appear for diner. On our first visit we ordered grilled fish and a salad, which was in its simplicity quite superb ( fancy restaurants should follow the example and simply leave fish to speak for itself on the plate). On the second occasion and with the help of a Spanish speaker we pre ordered Paella (which must be ordered a day in advanced as it is cooked to order) which in my humble opinion was a little over saffroned and over salted but tasty non the less.Well worth a visit, which will be greatly enhanced by having a few basic words of Spanish.

It is a nice place where to stay and eat 'non-typical' food, that is food that is not common to find on the island. The food is delicious and the people running the place are super-kind and helpful: always with a smile on their faces (meaning not only in the mouth but in their eyes as well!). Do not forget to make a reservation since the place is usually full.D. ManuelGracias por vuestra reseña y vuestra visita. Estamos para servirles.

Rustic Canarian cuisine restaurant on the north coast of El Hierro, sea and mountain views, excellent service and a meal based on natural and local products. Specialists in meats and fresh fish.
We were introduced to this lovely restaurant by friends last night. As it was our first time (and the menu was in Spanish) they suggested we picked our own inside. I picked a fish and my husband a t bone steak, there was also a mixed grill and steak for the others in our group. The food when it came was cooked perfectly and was delicious. The staff were attentive throughout and catered to our every need.A fantastic restaurant, highly recommended. Thanks for your answer ,I hope see you soon.
