To get to the restaurant you basically walk through what feels like someone's home. It's strange at first. The restaurant has a view and is over the water which was nice. We ordered the seafood soup and were very excited about it but it seemed to have fake crab in it which was disappointing considering we were literally floating over the ocean.

This Fonda had a great review in my travel guide. I love fonda - inexpensive local food. This one did not disappoint. I had the pork chops and my wife had the meatballs. The meatballs were awesome, the porkchop was fine. Each plate came with salad, rice and lentils. Good meal for a bood price. However, the best thing about this place is the outdoor seating... we really enjoyed the "people watching" opportunites it provided.

Ebony serves up local cuisine for locals and tourists alike. Portions are gigantic so it may be worth splitting a meal. I had the sea snail and their fish special. It was cooked just like it would be in a small community. Unfortunately this means that it will be slightly over-cooked. They have specials until 5pm with smaller portions so go for a late lunch or early dinner if you can. Service is normal for the region, just grab their attention when you need something and they will help you. The owner is incredibly personable and friendly and is almost always there. Plan to spend some time in Ebony to relax, enjoy the ambiance and do some people-watching.

This side-of-the-road restaurant is across from where you park your car when you stay at Koko Acqua Lodge (we stayed there, see our review about the hotel). We had lunch there. Only 2 other locals ate there, service was quick, food was really good, yet simple. This was local food, with beans and rice mixed in (like Costa Rica's staple dish), French fries (which we never eat at home, so it's a treat), and nicely grilled chicken or pork. Simple but good food, plentiful as well for a fair (local) price. Probably the cheapest meal we bought during our entire stay in Panama, $6/plate. Worth it.
