Almenta [fresh culture] is a space where live gastronomy and culture in equal measure. Run by chef Jose Almenta.
Driving from Portugal back to Costa del Sol, we decided to stop for lunch after crossing the border into Spain. Trip advisor recommended this place and so we decided to take a chance.Outside it's not very prepossessing and inside it looks more of a cafe with its casual tables and collapsible chairs (I might have been better to express that as folding chairs because nothing collapsed while I was there!)Not a huge menu, but it looked better than the average small town restaurant.Again, the service was not the fastest, but when the waiter came he obviously knew his menu and was able to help with the ingredients and how they were cooked. When the food arrived it was delicious with delicate tastes and obviously an interest in cooking and presentation rather than just slapping it on the plate. Very tasty indeed and well worth the reasonable price that was charged.Next time we take that road we will stop here again.Hola muy buenas.Muchas Gracias por la visita.Un Saludo!

Simple and tasty food. Iâd recommend the pan con bacalao, lagartito, tomate con melva, and the croquetas de carabinero (the other croquetas just didnât do it for us). We also tried the homemade torrijas which were made special for semana santa and were delicious! The staff was very friendly but the service was a bit slow and they werenât very on top of thingsâplates and glasses were left on the table too long and they forgot drinks we ordered, stuff like that.Check it out for the good food and the nice atmosphere (they have outdoor seating front and back) but donât go if youâre in a big rush.

Stayed at the Toruno Hotel so we just drifted across the road to this restaurante. Excellent choice and we had some very unusual game dishes. Good service with great atmosphere. Shame however that the breakfast the next day was terribleGo for dinner but avoid breakfastBuenas tardes, agradecemos que haya opinado sobre nuestro negocio, y esperamo que venga de nuevo por nuestra peculiar ciudad. Un saludo. See you soon.

Stopped here for lunch as a half way point on Seville-Huelva motorway. This restaurant is on the main street surrounded by others. The decor was typically Spanish with casks , hams and bullfighting posters everywhere. Wooden tables and chairs are basic but clean. Typical Spanish food - they have a barbacue style grill to cook meat and fish. However, they didn't have any vegetable dishes left that day and my pork loin in brandy sauce was overcooked and tough. Service was ok but it took forever to get the bill and longer for the change. They charge for everything- bread and the olives we didn't order with the drinks which I thought were free. Over priced for average quality food and nothing to write home about except the decor.

Had lunch here last week - lots of fish tapas, boquerones, sardenetes - everything fresh and locally sourced. Great ambiance, busy and buzzing but good service as well. Food & drink, something the Spanish do so well here in Andalusia. Definately worth a visit!

It's perfectly understandable why this place is never empty and why you sometimes have to wait for available tables. The food is rich in taste and leaves you full in all ways possible, both traditional and unique cuisine. Very attentive personnel, ready to help and thoroughly explain everything to foreigners. Kids friendly, despite being not much of a family restaurant. Definitely worth visiting in Matalascañas. Try Salad La Peña and Cod! NB! Blueberry cheescake is not an American version cake but a really tasty dessert with fresh cream and jam. Worth ordering!

First of all the waiters are speaking slowly as you can understand them. They are very friendly, discete and they are giving good advice. Now the meals, they are absolutly delicious, prepared with fresh products and the fishes and shells they propose outside the menu come from the fishing of the day.

We had a really outstanding afternoon at Los Olivos. The service was very friendly and helpfull and he was really good in his advices and tips. The menu is very various and you can order greater and smaller parts of the meals or share them. Beside of that it is really delicious!!!If you are in the neighbourhood you really have to go to this place, friendly, various menu's, good prices and a clean nice place.

sabado 25 de Mayo 2019 el restaurante estará cerrado y el viernes 24 de mayo de 2019 por la noche también está cerrado.
We travelled from the Algarve to Marbella and stopped on the way at this restaurant between Huelva and Sevilla. What a surprise. We were welcomed by the owner Carlos and who invited us to choose between a 6 and a 9 course degustation menu. Not cheap but worth every euro. It started with a delicious paté and was followed by a string of little plates, every one with more flavours than the following. All with ingredients from the region La Palma. it was a real feast of flavours "sabores". We have been to the best restaurants in the world such as the Noma, Fat Duck, El Bulli. This place has not the same looks but the kitchen chef (maira-José Carlos wife) is outstanding.
