We were staying at the Parador near here and wanted to try some local tapas. Taberna de Rusty was a great choice. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and the food was outstanding. We had eight tapas with four glasses of wine and the total bill was â¬22.35 amazing! We can highly recommend the âcrunchy eggâ - a soft egg cooked in crunchy batter! Hope return here again next year.

Opposite the Parador, close to the Plaza Cervantes. An historic building providing excellent locally sourced food cooked traditionally. Service was excellent and the food delicious. Unfortunately this restaurant is not open on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday evenings. Possibly the best restaurant in Alcalá.

It is difficult to find high quality vegetarian food that is also tasty when traveling. Hemisferio Loft was suggested by a friend and the restaurant did not disappoint us at all. The location is near the plaza en Alcala de Henares hidden away in a quaint alleyway. It is worth looking for!We ordered mushrooms in sauce for our appetizer and it was a delicious treat, savory and with just the right spices. My husband and I decided to try two different items for our second course. He ordered a rice dish with vegetables and I ordered a chef-recommended vegetable concoction that was served in a mason jar. It was by far one of the best vegetarian dishes I've ever eaten in a restaurant anywhere. The vegetables were cooked to perfection and seasoned well. The rice my husband ordered was also excellent. If you want to top off the incredible dining experience you must order the Tiramisu. The chef at Hemisferio makes an awesome dessert you will not want to miss. For the non-vegetarians: I noticed others were ordering large steaks similar to T-Bones called Chuletones. The other diners seemed as pleased with their selections as well. The service was just right for us, the maitre did not hover over us but was available for anything we needed. Overall a great place to eat.

Restaurant within the Parador - open to non residents.
After a thorough and fascinating tour of Alcala and its University, we enjoyed a wonderful luncheon at Restaurante Especia. We were seated in a glass-walled galleria overlooking a soothing interior garden. The table settings were elegant and the greeting was warm and welcoming. The succession of dishes was delicious and artfully prepared. The bread was noteworthy, and the suckling pig was over the moon. Ingredients were fresh and local. Desserts were at the same time exotic and traditional. I am certain that Restaurante Especia will soon have a Michelin Star.

I am vegetarian and my mum is gluten intolerant so it is always difficult to eat out, especially abroad. The staff here were really helpful and attentive, even creating a separate starter for me. The food was good and the restaurant had a nice, busy atmosphere.

We came for dinner on a Wednesday without a reservation. Since we were there at opening time (9pm) we managed to get one of the few unreserved tables. Despite the place's popularity though, we weren't overly impressed. Service was friendly (though Spanish only) but the food was only average at best, unfortunately.

Wow, Vinoteca is a must-try if you ever find yourself in Alcalá. The jamon and wine are incredible and you can tell that the owner, Javi, truly cares about his customers. He will find you a wine that you absolutely love and you can buy a whole bottle of it just down the street at their equally charming wine shop. I have been there 4 times now (2 dinners and 2 dinners+wine tastings) and every meal has been lovely and accompanied by incredibly attentive service-- something I've had a hard time coming across here, as a visitor from the US. Definitely try their jamon, manchego, pisto, and croquetas! We are so grateful for our returning customers like you. Thank you for taking the time out to write a review and for visiting us. The jamon is wonderful, isn´t it! We look forward to your future visits.

Had the menú del DÃa - appetizer of cubed ham, cheese, and onion in mayo, then picked gazpacho followed by grilled pork loin. Desert was crema Catalan - like creme brûlée. With bread and wine, only 12 euros. And it was all delicious. The server was very friendly and cheerful. Thereâs a lot to see in Alcala so I am sure I will be returning to Alcala from Madrid, and to this restaurant!

As an Irish man we love our meat dishes... Was with my partner and her sister and her partner.. Who is Argentinian.. He said he will order the lamb for both of us. We had a dish of jammon with some small tapas as a starter with a quality wine.. And then the biggest dish of meat I ever saw was presented... Wow oh wow.... Best few hours of my life eating a meal perfectly prepared.. We had anthor bottle of wine. Saying this the ladies had a ceaser salad each and left us too our devices... 10/10 for me.... Thank you El secerto...
