This review is in response to the 3 newest ones complaining about being kicked out. Seriously??? Don’t go eat out at closing time!! The employees have lives too. Yes, you are going to be asked to leave when you are sitting around chit chatting after closing time. Get over yourselves. The world doesn’t revolve about you.

Don Nico's

Visited Don Nico's with family a few days ago and had the tamales with rice and beans and an unsweetened tea. My food came out hot and fresh as expected. The time between ordering and receiving the food was outstanding. The service was excellent and my tea glass never ran empty. The atmosphere is traditionally Mexican and there are televisions on most walls, providing entertainment and breaking monotony. The dining areas were clean and organized and the restrooms were clean and well stocked. Prices are good and there is ample parking on all sides. I really liked the taste of the food and the never ending tea refills. If you are looking for great Tex-Mex in the 'Ville, look no further than Don Nico's. I'm betting you will love it, too. Safe travels, y'all!

My husband and I were traveling back from Austin and wanted some good mexican food for lunch. In searching the web we saw this place listed and decided to check it out. Wow were we surprised with what we found. It may be little but it is big on taste. The Queso was exceptional and the hot sauce was off the charts good.I ordered a plate that had two chile rellenos on it which I never see and they were really good. The staff was super sweet and very fast, my be worth a trip back down there just to eat here again.

I came there with a friend yesterday. It was 2:00 on a Saturday afternoon and they were not busy at all. We saw 4 other people in the restaurant and 2 of them were getting ready to leave. Despite that, we received the worst service! After seating ourselves, we waited about 15 minutes for a menu. Across the booth from us There was a woman talking to a couple of other customers. We weren't sure if she was waitstaff or not, so we just sat there for a while as I looked around to see if there was anybody else working in the restaurant. As we were about to leave, the woman comes over to us and says "oh, I didn't see you come in!" This was complete bull. My friend is in a motorized scooter, and we were about 3' from this woman. There was no way that she didn't possibly see us. After acknowledging us and wiping the very sticky table we were sitting (we asked her to) she went to the back to and a few minutes later, another person came out to deliver us menus and take our drink orders. We ordered a couple of the half price appetizers, the fried mushrooms and pickles, and the layer dip. The only saving grace about this place is that the food was delicious. The gentleman who ended up taking our orders and delivering the food was OK. But then he disappeared halfway through our visit. Another woman came out and said she was taking over the table. Despite having encountered 3 different people coming to our table, the plates were not cleared in a timely manner, water was not refilled, and when we decided to order a dessert, it took about 10 minutes to find somebody to come by and take our dessert order. By the time we finished our meal, we were the only 2 people in the restaurant! I don't really understand how the service could have been this bad When the restaurant was not busy at all. I almost felt like we were imposing on them. It's a shame, because the food was delicious. But with this kind of service, I will not return.I came there with a friend yesterday. We dropped in while waiting on a movie. Their sweet tea is the best in town. The employees are friendly and it is very clean. My wife had a problem with her taco salad and they immediately made it right. I really appreciate an establishment that is eager to serve the public. The food is fresh and they make it with pride. We love this Taco Casa.

Stopped here on a road trip for dinner. Decent food, but certainly not the best Mexican food I've ever had. Found a hair in the chips which kind of turned me off. I was surprised it wasn't all that busy considering the good reviews. Prices were very reasonable, though.
