This place is not what I expected. Opens around 10:30 a.m. so as can be expected, it is not a place to have breakfast at. Looked at menu and asked about Carne Asada or Steak taco and was told they didn't serve it. Come on! What Mexican Restaurant doesn't serve Carne Asada or Steak with Tacos? The options that I were interested in otherwise were ground beef or shredded beef. Knowing that this place didn't offer Carne or Steak I expected to get a very blah type taco. To my amazement I was as far off as possibly could be. The Soft Taco was rolled with meat cooked with peppers and I am going to guess onions in the middle and cheese on the top with lettuce and tomato on the side. A small plate, but otherwise was just what I was looking for to satisfy my hunger and again, surprisingly delicious. My wife had the Tostada (beef) with Rice and both were also very good she stated. The beans on the tostada were very authentic she mentioned and the rice was great. Again, it erased her hunger so it was filling for the size of plate received. So, this place is sort of a hidden Gem as it is in a walk way off of the Fry's Grocery Shopping Plaza. Food prices are a little high, but we still feel the value was there. Oh, and it is a small setting so larger gatherings need to probably contact in advance so they can set up and area for you as we witnessed with a group of 8 that came in. Phone number below is from their Facebook page so if it is not correct, I am sorry.

A family member and I stopped here for lunch on a recent Saturday during a "shopping break". We sat outdoors on the patio. It's almost right on busy Bell Road, but there's no charge for the carbon monoxide from the traffic! We started with the Crab & Artichoke appetizer, which was huge and enough for four people. It had plenty of flavor and plenty of bread toasts to accompany it.We shared an order of Beer Battered Fish & Chips with Fries and Apple Slaw. Again, even with splitting the order, there was enough for both of us. The breading on the fish was light and didn't overpower the delicateness of the fish. The fries were hot and crispy and the accompanying Apple Slaw was especially flavorful. Slaw is usually pretty bland in most establishments. My disappointment with this visit is based on how long it took for someone to come to our table to take drink orders and the length of time it took for our food to be serviced. The service people appeared disorganized and understaffed. It looked like a"Manager" was doubling as a Server....and the place was not busy....at least not on the patio.

Pork Carnitas shredded easily, had no fat and came with in-house made flour tortillas and enough for an extra meal. Same for the grilled ground beef Chimichanga. Service was very good as was the strawberry margarita and the live music.Would have given 5 stars except for an unexplained charge for green sauce instead of red when the menu indicated either at no charge. Chips were fresh and salsa was not to spicy.Fun atmosphere and outside dining.Hello ManzanitaDuck, First off, thank you for the great rating and review. We are glad that you had a great time at our restaurant and enjoyed the entertainment.. As for the charge for subbing your sauce, I apologize for that and I will definitely look into why that happened.

Great service here as we had a large group for a late dinner following a graduation ceremony. Nice menu with all the traditional dishes. Good food and we enjoyed the dinner.

We go to Popos for taco Mondays - All-U-Can-Eat Monday beef, chicken or machaca tacos. If you go any other day you will be paying to much. The service is lacking, especially if you sit in the bar area. If itâs not Monday we donât go to Popos... itâs not worth the price.

Visiting arizona from MTL with my wife, like most places we go to we like to try food highly ranked on trip advisor. Kinda wish it was ranked lower would have preffered to skip it sorry.Food seemed to come a bit slow, couples to our right and left were complaining it was taking a while and even after a new couple sat down next to us one of them actually got up to get a waiter. We ate tacos from the "upgraded" menu and I found they were simply alright. My wife ordered 4 different kinds and she didnt like or finish any of them. I also tried them because I usually finish her food but really they werent good. Dont remember any of their names but hey maybe some of the other things were good...I had also went to 2 hippies taco shop the same week and man talk about night and day. Better tacos and better price which is crazy to say. Nothing worse then paying double triple and the food is not even as good.

Abuelo's invites you to experience the incredible flavors of Mexico, combining homemade cooking with rich flavors of coastal and interior Mexican cuisine.
The food is good and served hot. The food is mild, even their salsa. Service depends on the server you get, some are good, others aren't. A little pricey.
