I was on an overnight trip to Birmingham and staying at the Hassinger-Daniels Mansion B&B which was a dream come true BTW. I became ravenous and needed to find a restaurant close-by in a pinch! After setting my garmin to locate Mexican restaurants near the area about 6 options appeared. I scrolled through the various options. One was about 2.6 miles away and I decided the name sounded interesting so I decided to drive over to it! NOT DISAPPOINTED!This mexican-inspired restaurant is nestled in the most picturesque little village around. Absolutely a darling of an area. I went in and was met with such decorative flair it was inspiring. A dark, inviting rustic 'Cantina' themed interior helped the hungry guests truly feel that they were stepping into old Mexico. After being seated I told my server I was starving and absolutely needed an appetizer right away. She generously pointed me to the appetizers on the menu. I let her know that gluten was a serious issue and asked her to guide me to what was the safest option. We decided on the cheese dip. IT WAS SPECTACULAR! So absolutely full of flavor. I chose a combination green chile' tamale and chicken enchilada for my entree. AGAIN I was NOT disappointed with my selection. My mouth burst with a plethara of delightful/ delicious flavors. I had no idea that simple green chile sauce on a tamale could be so absolutely yummy.Overall I give this mexican restaurant 5 stars: Ambiance, Service, Quality, Taste, and Affordability. My entire meal was under $20 with tip and all! I can't WAIT to bring my girlfriends back with me during our next trip :)

We went here for lunch with friends. I had the Green Goat bowl, which is a salad with goat cheese, almonds and cherry tomatoes. I added chicken. Very good. My husband and son had the tacos. My son had the fried chicken tacos and pulled pork tacos. My husband had the pork carnita tacos. Great food in a laid back and fun atmosphere!!

My family and I ate here from a suggestion of local Samford students. I can see why the kids are drawn to it...quick, cheap, busy location. I thought it was good, but definitely not the best taco I had ever had. Also, be prepared to wait....we've never seen the line when it wasn't out the door.

Rojo is a great place to bring a group of friends. They have plenty of seating and a great menu. They have a mexican food menu and an american food menu, which is great for big groups. They also have great local beers and great drinks. Thanks so much for the review! We love big groups. We also have a side room that you can reserve for parties :)

The hubby and I went with another couple on a Wednesday night. It took a while to be seated, but spaces at the bar were available and we didn't have a problem waiting. Service was super friendly and reasonably fast for as full as they were. I got the al carbon street tacos. Fantastic! Hubby got a chicken burrito. It stole the show! Huge plate of food. Wine was only $4.50/glass because of a special. Cheese dip and chips were on point. My friends shared the salmon. Plenty of food for two. I will definitely go back. Yum!

If you like just a taste of this and that - and who doesn't? This is the place for you. Tapas are perfect for a little taste. The regular menu here is also very good and plenty to order if you plan on sharing with others at the table. I ordered three pork tacos and they were delicious! I can imagine how busy this great restaurant is during the summer. Don;t let that dissuade you. It is worth a wait.Service is good and friendly.
