This is a small, non-descript place popular with both locals and visitors. Living in Albuquerque my husband and I have many, many brew pubs to choose from but like sampling when we travel. The night we were at High Desert, it was very crowded both on the patio and inside at 6:40. There were around 8 brews from which to choose and we had one of the two IPA's. It was good but nothing special. Prices vary dependent on the brew but are reasonable. The menu is typical for this type of place with appetizers, quesadillas, burgers, sandwiches and green chile stew.My green chile cheese burger was very good as was my husband's mushroom swiss chicken sandwich. However, my side salad was just shredded lettuce and a few chopped tomatoes and his fries were very tasty and non-greasy but a very small serving. Portion sizes are average - although we saw gigantic portions of nachos being served - and prices are reasonable. Our server was rushed and not particularly attentive, but friendly. One negative was the over an hour wait for our food. We also had to ask for water refills and while other tables received ice water with lemon, ours was warm and minus the lemon. When we were finally served, our waiter said that there was only one cook in the kitchen. Maybe this could have been avoided, maybe not but it puts a damper on the overall experience.

Great traditional mexican food. Chicken mole was amazing. Plenty of vegetarian options. The vegetarian enchiladas with red sauce were tasty. The grilled fish tacos were decent. The welcome soup (sopa de fideo) was good, lentil soup was good, beans and rice were good. Wait staff was super friendly and I never saw her once, not smiling. Service was quick.

My daughter who is at NMSU and I try to do lunch every couple of weeks. She typically picks, I typically pay. She chose here. My burger, the Aggie burger was very good, she had a Mexican plate chili con carne, also excellent, the meat in her dish was super tender . Service was good, our waitress a little hurried but as meal went along she calmed. Prices were average for the area.

Family owned since 1939, this was an authentic Mexican restaurant. The atmosphere makes you feel like youâre visiting Mexico. Thereâs parrots caged in the lobby to entertain everyone. The gift shop is wonderful, the staff was friendly and the food was great. I would definitely go back when visiting the area again.

Not sure how it gets so many good reviews. I have eaten here a few times and it never is that good. I had the sirloin steak, cooked medium rare. It was the correct temperature but not a lot of flavor and a bit tough. Ordered mashed potatoes but received twice baked. Salad was good as was the chili relleno. Service was attentive.

We stopped by, looking for some good local Mexican grub, and we werenât disappointed. Gabe, our terrific waiter, gave us a personal tour through the SEVEN salsas he brought to the table. I had the chile relleno platter, which Gabe offered to put chile-con-carne on top of. Seriously, it was fabulous. Everything... the chips, the salsas (the salsas are awesome), and the service. It was all on target. (Also, try the sopapillas for desert!) Thanks Gabe!

Best hot dog I ever had in my life! Not to be missed!
Our server, Jenna, was especially accommodating and friendly. Good prices and large portions. My husband had the pork enchilada with green chili and I had the house specialty of tacos. Both were very good. The chips, salsa and pico were very nice.

I arrived here with the recommendation of a nearby hotel, Ruben, the young man at Comfort Inn & Suites suggested to me that I might like this place - indeed, the food was authentic Mexican and very delicious. Service was also pleasant. Highly recommended.

Had heard about âThe Shedâ as a good local place serving New Mexican cuisine, then I looked at their website and saw they also have some really scrumptious sounding breakfast. We tried them for Sunday brunch and it was awesome! They have a bunch of eggs Benedict recipes, my wife had the traditional, while I had the huevos rancheros with home fries & beans. Both meals were served quickly and hot and they were busy with Sunday brunch crowd. We are pretty new to Las Cruces and will definitely be back for breakfast and more!

I like spicy food. I was not disappointed! I had cheese enchiladas with rice and beans. Everything was delicious. The enchiladas were not rolled but flat. I've never seen that. I asked our awesome waitress Wera about it and she said it was the normal thing. ??? I've been all over the world and never seen flat enchiladas. Regardless, they were good. My wife had a combo plate that she enjoyed. I tried one of the beef tacos and agreed with here that the meat was a bit bland, but some salsa fixed that.Service was prompt and friendly. Parking was easy on the street or behind in the parking lot.I'll be back the next time I'm through Las Cruces.
