Recently renovated, this restaurant offers spacious dining areas, a friendly wait-staff, authentic, home cooked Tex Mex cuisine with generous portions. My husband and I had never been to this restaurant despite living in Gainesville, VA nearly 16 years. Having a small storefront, we did not quite know what it was. We have tried many Tex Mex restaurants in the Northern Virginia area and this one is our favorite by far. El Tio is located in the Giant Food strip mall in the Virginia Gateway shopping center. Don't let the outside deceive you. It is a full-sized restaurant with large dining rooms and ample space between tables. The food is authentic, fresh and tasty, very much like the food we remember from living near San Antonio, Texas. The staff greet each guest as they arrive and wish you well as you leave. The service is attentive and prompt. The portions are generous and the price is mid-range.If you are looking for great Mexican Food and want that home-style flavor, try El Tio's. You will not be disappointed.

Dropped in on a cold, rainy Saturday a little after 5:00, the parking lot was already full (parking limited, but there is other parking in easy walking distance). If you eat a lot of Tex-Mex, you like to have your favorites on the menu; all the standards are here with good sized portions for a good price and friendly service. Felt like I was back in Dallas or Houston.

After visiting Don Chatos Delicias I needed to find another Mexican restaurant. The food was just okay nothing to write home about. I wasn't impressed with the Chicken Enchiladas, but the chips and dip were extremely good. The place is surrounded by many other restaurants so try them out then go see a good movie and afterwards get ice cream. Plenty of parking available on the side of the restaurant. However, on weekends it can be tough to find parking space since itâs a plaza of restaurants and great place to walk around. Outside seating and great in the summer time to enjoy the weather. Tables are tight inside but plenty of seating on both sides of the restaurant. The place was clean. The front desk was friendly, but the waiter did not appear he wanted to be at work that night. The food wasn't that good to go back again any time soon. However, there is have an opportunity for the restaurant to get better. Bye Now
