On the Border Mexican Grill & Cantina

Every day at 8 a.m., we start chopping veggies, soaking beans, and prepping our mesquite-fired grill. Not because we have to, but because we believe in delicious flavors made-to-order, from hand-rolled enchiladas to our sizzling fajitas to guacamole made

My wife and I stopped in for dinner on a weeknight. It was pretty quiet in there but we enjoyed good service and good food. We loved the guacamole appetizer and the sopapillas for dessert. My wife had the fajita chicken bowl and I had the classic chimichanga. I also tried one of their new watermelon drinks and found it to be quite tasty. Nothing was over-the-top excellent, but all was very good and reasonably priced.

Chili's Grill & Bar

We have been going to this restaurant since it opened many years ago. The menu has changed( I miss their grilled chicken salad so much) here and there since then but food is good in a inexpensive to moderate price range! My husband and I and our three grandsons went here recently and we had good food with moderate prices at this chain restaurant. My only continuing problem with this restaurant, which continues to be the “same problem, (these past few years) at “THIS LOCATION ON RT 5 ONLY” is that no matter when I go in there, no matter how many in our party , no matter how busy or absolutely empty the restaurant is, “INEVITABLY WE ARE GREETED IN A VERY FRIENDLY BUT NONETHELESS DISTRACTED/GEE, WE ARE SO BUSY ATTITUDE” and the hostess points to benches in the entranceway and says “I AM AFRAID YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT & I WILL CALL YOU WHEN A TABLE OPENS UP.” I will then poke my head in, seeing dozens of open tables ( some easily seen on other side of open entrance to the restaurant) and ask “BUT THERE ARE TONS OF TABLES THAT ARE EMPTY!” She will then smile sheepishly and say “Oh, we have to clean off a table for you!” I then point to the empty tables and ask her “WHAT ABOUT THOSE?” She will stammer, embarrassed and then rapidly rush off into the restaurant somewhere( to get away from any further questions I surmise to reappear approximately anywhere from five to ten mins., if not longer, exclaiming proudly “OK, I CLEANED OFF TABLE SO I CAN SEAT YOU NOW!” I am really irritated by now because number one “IF THIS IN FACT WAS TRUE”, then my question is, in an either empty or only few tables filled restaurant “WHY WASN’T THIS MYSTERIOUS TABLE CLEARED OFF EARLIER, LIKE AFTER LAST CUSTOMERS LEFT”, instead of waiting to clear a table, once “new customers arrive?” Doesn’t make sense! Is it not enough wait staff on? I look around and that particular day, it seemed well staffed so “WHY IS THIS A CONTINUING PROBLEM EVERY SINGLE VISIT AT THIS PARTICULAR LOCATION?” On busy times it is understandable but not when it is quiet, like last week or “MY VERY FAVORITE”, it opened last SATURDAY! We were literally the first customers in the restaurant w/ my three grandsons( party of four)! We walked in 20 mins after they opened! Well, not only were there “no customers in restaurant but there was NO STAFF...ANYWHERE!” No one in bar, hostess or waitress! We literally stood there 14 mins! A few times I wanted to leave but kids begged me to stay because they love eating there! My mistake was giving this restaurant another chance after each time I go and am so irritated! About 7 mins into standing there ( checked my watch) someone from bar was carrying something out to bar( bartender I assumed) and I said “Is anyone working here?” She said “Yeah, she’ll be out”( twice she told me that and presumably told the hostess I was there) when eventually she walked out, no rush and casually got menus. I told her how long we had been there and she said “Yeah!” I was busy!” Seriously? LOL! Lucky us, she was our waitress, disappearing in kitchen for huge chunks of time( I went looking for her and she was gabbing in back to another waitress.). I was furious. Food came out cold( she was so busy talking to other employees that I wondered if chef’s fault or hers but food not coming out hot( tepid or lukewarm to cold is another serious continuing problem at this restaurant! It is ridiculous really because it happens here on a regular basis! Been coming here with my teenage sons for yrs and now grandkids but I won’t be back! Bill was not cheap and for that kind of lackluster food and service there are to many excellent restaurants around to have to repeatedly be treated like this and food being cold with “so-so menu”( ON THE BORDER, LONGHORN STEAKHOUSE, 99 RESTAURANT, OUTBACK AND HOOTERS RESTAURANTS, all with restaurants that want your business, good menus, good prices and staff that cares and doesn’t offer thousands of excuses for dismal food, service and excuses! Why go to Chilis? I won’t!

Chipotle Mexican Grill

Reviewed By THEBLACKSMITHS

I have always liked Chipotle, but after the company's E. Coli scare, I disregarded the place altogether (even though mainly northwestern states were affected). I have since gone back and enjoyed the food without issue; large portions, great taste, and they provide EMT/Police/Military discount (varies based on location). Let go of the fear, say your grace and enjoy!
