We stopped in last night, this place is quite close to our lodging. It's a large restaurant and has many locals as well as tourists stopping to eat. Vern had one of the "platos" with carne (flank steak) that was grilled in front of us. It came with two fried plantain rounds, rice and lentils and a salad. He had a really fresh lemonade. I ordered spaghetti with cheese and had a banana smoothie (it was excellent). The sauce on the spaghetti wasn't tomato, it was red but thin and sort of sweet. I liked it. Huge portions on both meals. I must have had two cups of spaghetti, it came with a salad and four fried plantain rounds. Vern had a mayo sauce with garlic (green) which we both used on the plantains and it was very tasty. btw, the plantains were softer and better tasting than most we've had. The service was very good and the people watching on the main street fronting the beach was awesome.

The food comes from the ocean and lands on your plate. DELICIOUS and FRESH! Just the most delicious, and affordable (lunch was $3.50 and included fish soup, fried fish, and juice). Worth the trip.
We had the vegan burger which consisted of a sweet bun, tomato, cucumber and a vegan patty, sides were fries and steemed vegetables in a delicious tomato sauce. All in all very good, the bread was not my taste but the patty was the highlight! My friend had a empenada and was very happy about that as well! They sell no beers, but when you say that you want some, the owner goes next door to the tienda and buys you some! Vegan burger with 5$ not too cheap, but still okay priced.

Victor Hugo Restaurant, located inside the beautiful Victor Hugo Hotel offers a delicious fresh seafood menu of local traditional Ecuadorian recipes along with many fusion and international dishes such as salads, pastas, sandwiches and a taste of Mexico i
We had a leisurely dinner here and watched the sunset along with a young soccer team (futbol!) working out at the ocean's edge. Our table was on the upper level, open air, facing the beach. The fish tacos were yummy and had lots of fish. My husband's nachos looked so good that the four of us came back a few days later and everyone got nachos.
Great food with an ocean view! Bamboo walls with wooden tables and a sand floor. Very friendly staff who are accomodating to your preferences. Great prices too.

We are a family resteraunt. passionate about bringing delicious local food to our guests and located right in front of the malecon.
We went in here for breakfast because we liked the menu: eggs, bacon, toast, fruit salad, yogurt, granola, juice, coffee. However we were bowled over by both the presentation and the quality. Eggs and bacon cooked to perfection, really good fruit salad, proper juice and real coffee. And all for $5.

I have reviewed this place before, but itâs time for an update since I posted their first review on TripAdvisor. They are in a new, even better location - central on the malecón in Puerto Lopez, right in the middle of town and directly on the beach. Everyone Iâve sent there (and that is a lot of people) still agrees itâs the best ceviche they have eaten anywhere. I go at least once a month to get my fix. Iâm also updating photos of the menu and location. Donât miss having awesome ceviche here right on the beach - I guarantee you wonât be disappointed!

The ceviche was very good, lots of large shrimp and fresh ingredients. The fish and plantain patties were also good and the side order of papa fritas hit the spot.

We ate at Aloha several times during our stay in Puerto Lopez. Everything from a ham sandwich to take whale watching to a seafood dinner for two was great. The social purpose of helping stray dogs on the Malecon tugged at our heart strings as well. Best strawberry daiquiri Iâve ever tasted!

Happened to stop by to use the restroom and tried some tacos while we were here. The tacos were delicious and very friendly family. It has outdoor seating and nice views towards the rear.Sadly it is right off the highway, but it is okay, nice spot to find before you head down south to montañita or head up north towards puerto lopez!
