We had been traveling for almost a year at the point of eating at Comida Caseira and were looking for a place where we would not pay the usual (for us rather high) Canoa Quebrada price for a meal that was not meant to be anything special, we were just looking for a nice enough place to have dinner. We came across Comida Caseira on Trip Advisor and gave it a go. We thought that the food was great for the price. For 10 reais you can have tasty fish (or chicken or beef and perhaps some other options) with the sides of rice, pasta, farofa, beans and salad. The family that runs the place is very friendly and we were happy to channel our money to them rather than to some pretentious place on the main drag where we would pay 5 or in some cases 10 times the price for perhaps marginally better food. Recommended for travelers who care about their spending.

The sign outside says Restaurant, Pizzaria, Creperia. Oh, upstairs is a hostel. The place doesnât have a lot of charm or ambiance, but the food we had, we enjoyed. I had a lasagna Bolognese which was generous and well-done. My wife had a crepe, which itself was ok, but the plating was awkward, with salad in 4 corners of the plate. The portions are generous. The service was mediocre at best: our waitress couldnât have been less pleasant or attentive.

Tapas Boutique GourmetCanoa QuebradaChefs Cássia AndradeE Haidée ArrudaSet in the sand, tables and chairs are scattered through this somewhat unconventional layout of a restaurant. After you place your order you can watch the chefs prepare it behind plexiglass screens, where the ladies work in close proximity to one another. The menu is extensive and offers items that are refreshingly different from the usual restaurant fare of grilled fish and camarão. There are tortillas, risotto, a variety of tapas style seafood, spicy steak (very good!), onion and ginger soups, mixed up seafood or cold cuts, and desert. You may see a bat hunting insects beneath the straw roof while you sip your choice of a few cold red wines while waiting for dinner. Recommended. Lots of flavour here.

Located in the centre of Canoa Quebrada's Broadway is not to be missed. I love Brazilian (and Cuban) food, but I was kind of disappointed with the flavours and quality of the food served there. Prices were OK, staff also, beer served chilled, but main meal wasn't good at all. Unfortunately I was late and after long journey, so didn't want to go anywhere else (as I was sooo hungry). Even coffee wasn't that great (strong enough for BR/CU), so this was quite disappointing.

This is a great place to have lunch while waiting for the afternoon bus back to Fortaleza. There is a large covered dining hall where you can have por kilo lunch or order from an extensive menu. After lunch you can enjoy the sun and sand among the palm trees overlooking the beach. With a cold beer or a caipirinha. There is free wifi and a swimming pool. They will even store your luggage for you until it's time to board your bus. Recommended.

Cabana is another good option in Canoa Quebrada. It is always relevant to remember that we are in an old fishermen village, so don't expect five star service and sophisticated food. But for canoa standards, the food is pretty good and the price is fair. don't miss the shrimp with roquefort, a wilonderfully cooked recipe that will surely please even the most demanding customer.
