I know that chef's have had enough of cooking by the time Sunday evening comes round but I really was very disappointed with the standard of meal that we had. We chose a sharing platter of three cheeses, that was ok, although served on a plastic cheese board, made to look like marble! But three delicious pickled onions? Why not four for two people! We really had no choice for the second course, it was basically just left over roasts from earlier. Not really fancying something that had been about a while I asked for a child's portion, it was exactly the same as my husband had but on a small plate! The meat was a bit dry and tough and the vegetables definitely tasted like they had been cooked before lunch and kept warm. The service was excellent and friendly but the meal let the side down.My apologies for the standard of your food.Please be assured that we do cook throughout the day and I will speak to my kitchen team about your comments.Thank you for taking the time to write this, I will take action.

We were not disappointed with our first visit here. There are always high expectations when a restaurant has such great reviews so itâs a joy when those reviews are clearly well deserved.We were met by lovely welcoming staff whoâs friendly and warm approach continued throughout the birthday lunch for our Son. He lives in Bath and was desperate to go having heard such good things about it.Itâs a great atmosphere in the stone walled cellar of one of Baths typical Georgian houses. It was quite hot in there despite it being rather cold and wet outside.We started with some King Prawn bruschetta which was simply divine and one had the mushroom which again was superb.My main course I really didnât want to come to an end. Penne with mushrooms, walnuts and Gorgonzola.....I can not tell you how amazing this dish was. The rest of our party each had something different and not one of us could do anything other than lavish praise for the food. We had some fabulous ice cream for dessert and the restaurant did a discrete Happy Birthday on a plate with a small candle in our Sons portion (he hates a fuss) so this was the perfect touch,The staff were attentive without crowding you, a perfect balance of impeccable customer service.We had an absolutely superb time there, wonderful food, thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely be back again.

We passed this place on the way to Bath and called in for lunch. So glad we did - they have an excellent vegetarian menu with freshly cooked meals made from locally sourced products, the staff are so cheerful and welcoming and the atmosphere is great. The veggie breakfast was divine. You can relax in comfy sofas or or sit at tables and browse the books. It's lovely to be able to eat good food in such a friendly place.
