Just a few miles west of Naples (and easily reached by train), the ancient seaside city of Pozzuoli is probably best known for its bradyseism, a raising and lowering of the Earth’s surface due to underground volcanic activity. Many sites remain from Pozzuoli’s days as an important Roman port, including the Macellum or Temple of Serapis, which for many years was submerged under water. The Flavian Amphitheater (Italy’s third-largest) and the Cathedral of Rione Terra are other popular attractions.

We choose this place actually because they were showing a football match during the evening. I have to say, we weren't much hungry, but every thing was good: mozzarella and prosciutto, the mixed fish starters and the swordfish. Not a fancy environment, but nice food.

Sporting a fixed price menu with an excellent value for money and varied assortment of fresh fish, this place is hard to beat. Always full and rightly so, this was the restaurant we kept returning to night after night! We never had the same thing twice, which is pretty amazing considering that there are at least 6 different starters, followed by an assortment of pasta dishes and then fish. A couple of time we took back a doggy bag as we could not finish the meal! What we never tried were the desserts - we never managed to find enough space for that!!

It was my birthday so we were looking for somewhere a bit special - and we certainly found it. The selection of antipasti is incredible. A wonderful, fresh, delicious meal at an astonishingly low price. It was a wonderful experience to share all the plates and the friendliness and warmth of the staff made it a real night to remember. There was a great singer there and it was an all round fabulous night.

We were staying in this area and following reviews here we had a light lunch which included cozze , risotto and a caprese salad. With a good white house wine to accompany the food we were very pleased with lunch overall. The food was high quality, the service very good and the prices exceptionally good.

The seafood at Luna Rossa is among the best that I have ever enjoyed in the Naples region. Service is impeccible in this casual restaurant. Luna Rossa can make an everyday meal a special event.

Of course the food needs to excel to prevent the ambiance from spiraling into campiness, and my recent meal kept up. Among pastas, the seafood medley most fascinated. Strands of zucchini mimicked the shape of the noodles. Tossed with tomatoes, mussels, garlic, basil, and a judicious trifecta of olive oil, it all came off as a modern, protein-spiked riff on pasta primavera. I dug a spoon into a bowl filled with fried artichokes and found a dreamy layer of braised artichokes, hazelnuts, and grapes underneath. Vegetable crudité, the other must-share starter alongside the cecina, veered more toward rustic than glamorous.

I had the pleasure of dining here last week, and I still think about it! I had the steak with mushrooms and balsamic reduction, and my boyfriend had the lobster linguine. The chef made a flank steak as tender and flavorful as a filet. The lobster was fresh and delicious. He also had the clam soup, which had at least 20 clams, sweet and flavorful. We finished with a pistachio mousse/chocolate dessert and limoncello. All of this in the supremely romantic setting of a canldle-lit basement wine cellar!
