Marsaxlokk (Maltese pronunciation: [marsaʃˈlɔk]) is a traditional fishing village in the South Eastern Region of Malta, with a population of 3,534 as of March 2014. Family run restaurant since 1986 specializing in fresh local fish . The restaurant has an open kitchen concept with a good choice menu of pasta , fresh fish , seafood , prime beef and poultry , all at reasonable prices.
Let me start by saying that reading some previous reviews it would appear that the owner disparages anyone who uses TA as 'needing to get another hobby' which seems strange as they display a sticker extolling the virtues of a TA rating prominently over their menu offering outside! You really can't have it both ways. TA is a tool and it is used to praise and offer criticism, sadly, my review falls into the latter camp. However, it is a true account of our very recent experience. I have compiled the review to flag up the issues and hopefully, offer some constructive criticism.Firstly, the restaurant is very well located and nicely decorated and very clean. Run well it could be a wonderful dining experience, however, several issues mean that was not the case for us and I note previous reviewers mention several of the problems which we encountered that leads me to believe that lessons have not been learned, which is a real shame. We really felt that the restaurant was a good candidate for a Gordon Ramsey makeover, and strangely, from earlier reviews it seems we were not the first people to think this. The food was acceptable but the overall plate was let down badly by offering 'oven chips' ( I am sure this will be vehemently denied judging from previous responses but I have been a catering professional and I know my chips!) we were left wishing we had taken the offered roast potatoes instead of opting for chips ....but, who knew they would use oven chips in a reputable restaurant? I mean really, send for Gordon, pronto!!There was very little ambience in the restaurant and apart from one other table, it was deserted. The staff had to run everything past the elderly owner and that seemed to be the sticking point. They were not allowed to calculate bills or take payment. We called it a night after the main course and 3 drinks and asked for the bill. My husband went to pay and we left the building, as we left, I queried how much he had paid. When he told me I knew immediately it was way too much. We returned to the restaurant to ask for an itemised bill. Begrudgingly, the owner agreed and went back to the bar area to compile the bill. He pushed a bill across the counter saying ' I charged him 74 Euros and it should have been 78.50 Euros so you got a discount' I looked at the bill and it showed an amount for drinks that could not be correct (no itemisation, just a total) and also an amount of 20 E which I could not fit with what we had eaten. I queried these amounts and he immediately looked at the order (which had been taken by a lovely young lady) and started berating her for how she had written it down, which seemed easy to understand to me, but seemingly not to the owner. Essentially we had been charged for two starters which we did not have and wine which we did not have. All this exchange and two arguing/discussion over exactly what we had ordered took quite a while, however, eventually, and only after we added up our own bill by looking at the menu prices, he agreed we had indeed been seriously overcharged.and handed over the difference in cash, whilst still blaming his staff. We were left with one overriding thought, which was that if he placed more trust in his staff they would produce accurate bills as they are aware of what a customer has or has not ordered. The fact that he chooses to insist that he, and he alone, works out the bill leads us to think the scenario is one of two: he does that because he has an agenda: that of inflating bills, or, that he is a control freak who is not that competent. Neither is a particularly palatable scenario. In conclusion, I would say that from our experience Ir-Rizzu is not worth your time or money especially in a port full of really nice eateries. My advice would be to go elsewhere. I fully expect this review to be challenged, but hand on heart I can say it is an honest, accurate and fair representation of our experience.Hi, first of all thanks for your visit. No one likes to have over charged bills that is understood and we apologize again for the trouble caused. On the other hand, the owner's agenda is NOT to inflate bills he is a very honest person , but the order, by mistake of the waiter showed 2 wines instead of one , that's why he charged you that amount, as he explained to you very well and apologized several times with you for the mistake taken and you seemed to understand. Maybe you don't tolerate mistakes and don't do any yourself. You can write anything you want on TA but at least write the truth, and not accusing some one that he tried to rob you in any possible way. feel free to contact me on [email protected] for more clarification , thanks.

This fish restaurant is in a beautiful location in a fishing village. The views at the sunset are stunning if you're sitting outside. The customer service was nice as the ladies were friendly and showed all the fishes of the day on a tray. However, they told that 1 fish is approximately 20eur which I shared with another person. When the bill came it was 40eur for a fish and there wasn't even much fish. And I am sure they didn't mean 20eur each at first because I asked for the price before we even decided we were going to share the fish. If we didn't have starters we would still have been hungry. Thankfully, all the food was delicious (especially Maltese sharing platter) but it took a while for it to come. I appreciate that the restaurant was full though. I would recommend asking them to weigh the fish and tell you exactly how much it is going to cost.

'âSabai Jai'' Thai Bistro is all about authentic tasty Thai dishes and presented in a Thai related environment. The decor adds to the concept, but itâs the meticulously preparation of the authentic Thai recipes that are the answer to the success of this s
Eating at the Sabai Jai is not just the eating - it;s an experience. With typically Thai surroundings, that includes owner Alex, the servings are abundant and absolutely exquisite, with natural and authentic ingredients that give that original taste. And don't worry about the menu written in Thai language - Alex will just pull a chair beside you and guide you through it expertly. It's one of those 'must to' when in MarsaskalaThank you, we are thrilled you love our food so much that you have become a frequent diner at our Bistro. As an entrepreneur I can say I am very attentive to details and pampering my guests flows from my heart. As of next year it should get even better as we will include more dishes, plus a variety of Thai deserts. Khap Khun Krap.

T'Anna Mari Restaurant is situated in Marsaxlokk, in the South of Malta. Here you can enjoy the best Mediterranean dishes created by Salvatore.
The best restaurant in Marsaxlokk. (2 people dining, aprx. 19:15)Service was truly excellent, friendly, but very professional. We both would recommend to book a table beforehand or be early in the evening when the restaurant opens. We had 2 cocktails, bottle of wine, two mains and dessert with coffee. Price was below what we expected, and quality of each food was first class. We would come back even for the bread, never had better, a big thank you to the whole restaurant, hopefully we will come and see you again!
