The location was great for sunset watching, however, I forgot about the restaurant's proximity to the La Colla cove shoreline and the smell of the sea lions was definitely present. If you're not a local and not used to it, you might find it a bit off-putting especially when you're trying to enjoy food. Otherwise, you tend to forget about it after a while. It's a smaller restaurant, with seating for maybe 15-20 on the balcony and maybe 60-70. The inside dining areas looked very cozy as well, and I'm sure those sections are packed during cooler months when the ocean air is too chilly at night. The location is a bit more private than the other popular restaurants, and because of that is much quieter. You can definitely hear the sound of the waves and sea lions just beyond the street overlooking the coves. The food was great (we both ordered the fillet with shrimp). The staff was very friendly and attentive, with good wine recommendations.I would definitely dine here again.

We were seated outside, with no other tables between us and the ocean view. It’s a gorgeous setting. Very romantic and it was a beautiful summer evening. The service was initially a bit slow. It got better as the evening progressed and was not overly obsequious. The bread for the table was just average. The craft cocktail I had (mai tai) was bland and had too much alcohol. The calamari was very good and light. My salmon was slightly over cooked and my wife’s chicken was inedible. The manager came to our table along with their waiter and apologized and took it off of our bill. My two kids had fish tacos which they both enjoyed. We passed on dessert. If you aren’t expecting a gourmet experience but want outstanding views, this is your place to visit.

Went here for lunch as our first stop after getting off of our cross-country flight. Our family (me, spouse, two 17 yo boys, 11 yo girl) all had tasty sandwiches with fresh ingredients, while sitting out on the patio under an umbrella looking out at the beautiful landscape. No fliers that day, but plenty to look at.Among us we had the Turkey California, the Roast Beef La Jolla, the Roast Beef Southwest and the Chicken Acapulco Wind. My son traded his Turkey for the Chicken sandwich because he much preferred the French bread (the Aculpulco and the RB Southwest are the only ones served on the French bread), but everyone ate well.It was windy and cool the day we were there, but we loved the fresh air after being cooped up in a plane for several hours. There is no protected seating (beyond umbrellas) so I'd avoid it on a chilly or rainy day. And as noted in other reviews, only porta-potties.
