Tochi

We have driven a half hour twice to eat here because we love the flavors and the service was good both times. With lots of choices in the north shore area, it says something that we'll drive for Tochi Ramen.

MJ Stevens Pub 'n Restaurant

Had the lunch specials bluegill and Sherwood Turkey Sandwich, both were very good. Bluegill may have been a leftovers from Friday night fish fry as a couple pieces were a little fishy. Service was wonderful and quick, which one would expect at lunch when the place is pretty empty. If planning on dining on Fri or Sat night reservations is a must. Overall very nice place, food was good and hot, more of a deluxe fast food menu. Well worth a visit!! Enjoy!!

Subway

I love subway subs, but this was the most awkward visit ever. Started to order my subs and was told they were out of Italian bread. Not what I wanted, but ok. Different bread it is. It was obvious that one of the two guys (Cody and Matt I think) was being trained. Got it. But the one guy (Cody) kept talking about how much country music now a Days sucks (that’s what was on the radio and what another customer was singing along to) except two people. Then he went to go on and call his cousin (who he claimed was an American Idol 3rd place finalist) a tool and talk smack about him. Danny whatever from wi. He’d ask the next people in line what they wanted next (vegs etc) and while they were answering him he would walk away to the trainee working with me and look at something and then go back and ask again. I think they had to answer the same question 2-3 times. An online order came in and they were finishing up, but when this Cody guy needed a signature for the order he just looked at the lady and kept saying “hey. Hey. I need your signature.” I’m guessing there is probably a name on the online order. He easily could have looked at that and called her that way. Or “excuse me miss/ma’am”. Then there were complaints about how fast sauces come out of the bottles and how customers are mean and yell at him for putting too much sauce on when he can’t control it. Then, he found a bunch of Italian bread he claimed they were out of. By that point, the whole process had taken too long and I was just going to deal with what I had. And by the eye rolls and faces they were making...the people behind me were just as annoyed with him as I was.I will say that my sub tasted good, but I will probably avoid this Subway in the future. Having to listen to a kid do nothing but complain and rip on people and ask me the same questions over and over because he didn’t listen the first time is not something I want to experience again. I get it enough at home with my own children. Customer service definitely needs to be majorly improved on before in return.

The Idle Hour . .or two

This is a quaint restaurant in a historic building in the downtown area of West Bend. It doesn’t accept credit cards, so be prepared. They offer several soups, sandwiches, salads and pasta. I had the ham and cheese-very good. Sandwiches come with potato chips and grapes. There is outside patio seating and a jig saw puzzle to work. Good selection of teas and can order half sandwiches. Prices are reasonable. On street parking available.
