After 700 years, a local ancient Castle Anguillara / Palazzo Riario, reopens its doors. Crossing arches, massive pillars, vaulted ceilings and numerous ceramic finds medieval and Renaissance, found in the deep throw, reveal the story of two important lord
Just had a lovely lunch here. The manager couldn't have been more friendly and helpful going to great trouble to translate the menu for us. We were offered (and rapidly accepted) on the house some gorgeous goat cheese, bread with olive oil and nuts on and the pork main meal was wonderful. The bottle of wine for 7 euros was great value in our opinion too. On a hot day this was a lovely place to linger. Highly recommended. Each customer Hostaria della Rosa deserves warmth and friendliness. Our mission is to select the best quality of products to fulfill the wishes of our customers and make happy their lunch. When our customer is happy, we are happy with him.Thank you for choosing the Hostaria Rose, and thank you for your review.Best regardsMaurizio Vecchi

This is a beautiful, airy restaurant surrounded by rolling hills and big skies, but it's the artful food and wine that takes centerstage. Everything is delicious and flavorful, delicately plated. Since all produce is all natural and sourced from the onsite farm, from the wagu beef to the berries used to cream the butter for pink frosting, the flavors are incomparable.I had perfectly poached eggs with shaved white truffles on butter fried brioche garnished with micro greens for one meal. Silky, richly marbled wagu beef and crisp, wafer-thin prosciutto came before the plump, dense tortellini stuffed with fresh goat cheese. Each bite, I washed down with a sip of the reasonably priced but excellent house white. Dessert was apple done three ways - each a work of art with tangy, sweet apple bites turned into tart, a moist cake, or deconstructed inverse pie. I only spent a day there, but time really did stand still, and I left replensihed, relaxed, and calm.

Spending the day in Calcata and visiting the Hippie Festival, we walked into this restaurant by coincidence, drawn in by its nice and rustic setting. The owner explained to us that due to the festival it wasn't possible to order a la carte. There were only two options for lunch: porchetta with fried potatoes or salad with cheese and fried potatoes. So our group of five ordered one plate of porchetta and four salads, one bottle of wine and water. Unfortunately, we didn't ask for prices beforehand and ended up with a whopping bill of 125 Euros...:-( When we dared to complain about this, we were told that the price included bread and 'coperto' and that the ingredients of the salad (a few leaves of lattice, two cherry tomatoes and fried potatoes with cheese) were 'first class'. So if you are not ready to spend a small fortune for lunch, go somewhere else! There are plenty of other options in Calcata.

Excellent local food in a fantastic local filled with antiques from the neighborhood. Ask Mauro, the owner, to tell you the story about the mural painting on the wall in the main room - it's a story that could be translated into a blockbuster movie a' la The English Patient. Best are the small starters (anti pasti - it is possible to get a tasting menue). Also the Risotto Di Melone is great.
