Traveling with family this was a last minute choice to have lunch in Coos bay before continuing our trip. It was easy to find and there is a large parking lot and when weentered the restaurant there is a carved, large wooden figure of a fisherman, perhaps the captain, which was charming. They have booths and also table with plenty of space between them so you aren't having a meal with strangers. The service was very good and they had quite an extensive menu with many choices. One person ordered the po'boy dinner plate and declared it the best po'boy they had ever eaten, someone else had the scallops meal, another had a sandwich with a fruit salad and I had the grilled shrimp on a skewer. Everything was cooked to order which took just a bit of time but we all were so happy with our choices that they were worth waiting for. There is a small aquarium in the dining room and it was fun to watch the assorted fish which were unusual and not the usual gold fish or koi.All in all a really great experience and I can't wait to return when I am back in Coos Bay.

Sandwich shop
This is our family's go to place for lunch. It is very popular so go early or be prepared to wait a few minutes. You order at the counter, get your own beverages and select a table. The food is brought out to you. The serve is quick. The bread is outstanding (we actually order rolls for X-mas) and fresh baked. There a large menu with soups, salads, sandwiches, wraps, and desserts. All the food is very good so explore the options.

Located at the heart of Coos Bay Oregon, the Blue Heron Bistro is a small-town German restaurant serving traditional German food, local seafood, and more. We now do brunch on Sundays 10 to 3 .
Our family of three was craving a hearty, warm, meat and potatoes kind of meal late on Friday evening. We had a very pleasant experience with great customer service, a cool atmosphere, and delicious food! We were recommended amazing choices for dinner and we definitely recommend them as well: weiner schnitzel, sauerbraten, and clam chowder. We also paid with cash which got us a free dessert, we chose strudel and everything was tasty!

The person I was traveling with remembered this restaurant from years ago. So it was a must experience.Trying to find something positive I can say there is easy access off and on the road. Plenty of parking. My litmus test for a coast cafe is the chowder. More like potato soup. Very few clams and no flavor. It was served piping hot and I like that.Dinner partner had the fish and chips. The breading on the fish had no flavor. The fish was moist and cooked to perfection. No flavor thought. Large portion of no flavor fish.Skip the coleslaw all together. An IPA from "Seven Devils" brewery was very good and a decent price of $5 per pint.

I ate here with my three kids 7/7/2019 for dinner. We each got small plates, one just a kids meal. The bill came and it was $72. They neglected to give me an itemized receipt so I went and asked for one. They charged me $5 for my 7 year olds milk! I can buy 2 gallons for that! Teach me to make sure I look at drink prices, though I do not believe Milk was on the menu. When I asked for the itemized receipt, the waitress became nervous, handed to me and whoosh gone. The food was nothing special by the way. Better eats down the street!
