Situated in Yzerfontein, on the famous 16 Mile Beach, our seafood buffet restaurant offers the most freshly prepared selection of locally sourced seafood, with the sound of waves breaking behind you and the Bedouin covered deck overlooking the salt pans.
We were visiting the west Coast and travelling home, we decided to stop at yzerfontein for lunch. After checking the TripAdvisor reviews, we decided on Strandloper because it was different. The restaurant is against a dune (no sea views) overlooking a vlei filled with flamingos and other bird life. A most majestic view. Ideally one must book ahead of time, we were lucky to get the last table. The three course buffet is delicious focusing on seafood. It does feel strange to queue for food but I appreciate the staff ensuring that there was enough for all. I hadnât even finished my plate and some diners were completing their second piled high plates. Warning: do not eat all your bread as youâre going to struggle to eat the delicious main course. The bar has wonderful bloedlemoen gin and tonic on tap, as well as other options. Iâd highly recommend a visit, lovely outing for friends and families with children.

After being recommended by locals in Yzerfontein not once but 3 different people we decided to try them in Sunday 6 Jan. Wow I was so impressed. After a crazy festive season and still very busy, they had run out of calamari but I was given extra on my platter in lieu of the calamari. The food was exceptional. Yes we waited a while, but I just enjoyed the view And as I've been taught, in a busy season just order another bottle of wine and enjoy the company, it's a holiday not a race. We even ordered pizza takeaway on Monday again. YumThanks Willie for the darn good food

Four of us all had seafood pots and with 30 minutes 3 of us had highly explosive stomach problems. We had not eaten together before. Fortunately, the trouble only lasted for a few hours but it really spoilt our day. I would suggest avoiding this restaurant.
