It is located about 45 kilometres (28 miles) east of Lübeck and 30 kilometres (19 miles) north of Schwerin, and is part of the Hamburg Metropolitan Region. Its natural harbour, located in the Bay of Wismar, is well-protected by a promontory. The population was 42,219 in 2013. It is the capital of the district of Nordwestmecklenburg.

Am Rande der Altstadt von Wismar liegt in der Luebschen Str. 104 das "Akropolis". Es gibt Innen- sowie AuÃenplätze. Wir wurden durch den Wirt sehr freundlich empfangen. Das Ambiente ist sehr griechisch - sehr viele Pflanzen und Statuen, alles etwas überladen. Sehr störend war das für uns allerdings nicht. Die Bestellung wurde rasch aufgenommen - Gyros mit Reis und Salat, einmal überbacken mit Gouda. Preislich lagen wir bei ca. 10 â¬. Das Essen schmeckte gut und war auch ausreichend. Das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis war i.O. Gleiches gilt auch für die Getränke. Zum Abschluà gab es den üblichen Ouzo. Insgesamt waren wir zufrieden und können daher das Lokal weiter empfehlen. Nur ein Manko gibt es - das Restaurant ist nur über mehrere Stufen erreichbar und daher für Gehbehinderte ungeeignet.

Sono stato a cena in questo ristorante affacciato sul porto insieme alla mia famiglia.Il locale è piuttosto piccolo e arredato in maniera molto semplice. Ci sono anche dei tavoli allâaperto su una terrazza, ma siccome pioveva abbiamo cenato allâinterno.Abbiamo mangiato un piccolo antipasto diviso in tre e un piatto di pesce diverso per ciascuno: tutti piatti molto gustosi e ben cucinati. Il pesce è fresco e saporito, con abbondante contorno di patate fritte o arrosto e fagiolini bolliti.Buonissimo in particolare il mio âFischfilet Admiralsartâ (un filetto di scorfano con gamberetti e salsa di formaggio). Ottime e leggere e birre Lübzer.Il servizio è stato cortese e molto veloce, nonostante il locale fosse parecchio affollato.Il prezzo è stato buono per la qualità e quantità del cibo: per 1 antipasto, 3 secondi piatti con contorno e 4 birre da 0,50 lt abbiamo speso in tutto 61,35 â¬.Lâunica nota negativa è che la cucina è aperta sulla sala da pranzo, perciò il forte odore di fritto impregna tutti i vestiti.Consigliatissimo per chi vuole mangiare del buon pesce ad un prezzo onesto in un ristorante senza pretese!

Almost walked past this small restaurant. When we went in it was just like walking into someone's front room! Restaurant comprises 2 rooms, the one at the rear has a bar and toilet. There are a total of 7 tables, all being served by one lady who was dashing around like a mad thing! The restaurant is not by any means flashy - but the food makes up for this magnificently. We both had the 3 fish plate with prawns and mustard sauce. You can help yourself to the salad bar which is quite limited. The fish comes with a small dish of fried potatoes with bacon and onion.I will say the fish and potatoes were excellent. Total bill for 2 main courses with a large beer and a glass of wine was â¬37.30 - a great deal!

We had lunch at Gottfried's. It was a nice setting, we had a table at water's edge. We ordered "Würzfleisch", a sort of ragout with cheese topping, a schnitzel "chaussure style" and a pickled herring ("Matjes"). Schnitzel dish was not very good, schnitzel a bit too salty, mushrooms not fresh (canned) and French fries mealy, certainly laking crispiness, maybe fried at too low temperature. One of the worst I've had, really. The herring was good though, as was the ragout. Service friendly. Priced in the upper range for relatively simple food. â¬46 for three lunches including two bottles of water. Restrooms were ok.

No offence please but I found many of the restaurants in this part of Germany rather the same, so that menus didn't seem too interesting. I liked this because the fish dishes were absolutely fresh..and there was no sign of bratwurst or red cabbage!!

Usually the first impression makes the difference...this restaurant is nice pitty it's located over a kibd if fast food with same name.At the entrance you get shoked...then you realize the restaurant is 1 floor above.The service is really nice and food tasty.. good also the wine.

Whilst walking in Wismar we came upon the market square and decied to stop here for a drink. It is a great spot to sit out and watch the world go by (there is an inside too) . It also gives a great view of the square too. We decided to sit outside and have a drink and I found the prices reasonable ( a wine was â¬4.5 and a 1/2 liter beer â¬4.00). We did not eat but I did look at the menu and it looked good and again reasonable. This building is one of the older burgher houses in Wismar dating back to 1380! It has an interesting brick facade with lots of windows. definately worth a visit.
