A delightful evening with a bespoke meal cooked to order. Fresh seafood and vegetables ( meat available but not ordered) with recommendations from the interesting and charming Italian owner Paulo. Restaurant is on the front but further towards the river so easy to overlook despite being very accessible. Excellent value for the quality. Should not be missed.

This is the largest and one of the oldest restaurants in San Juan del Sur. It is the most popular restaurant serving traditional Nicaraguan beach fare. Located right on the beach! Full service, full bar. Fabulous sunsets!
Our Son ordered the mixed seafood appetizer and it arrived in a deep fried tortilla bowl. There were lobsters as well as other seafood and vegetables in a wonderful tempura. The octopus was flavorful and tender, which can be a challenge. The chicken au gratin, recommended by our waiter, was delicious. It came with rice as well as tempura yucca that looked like French fries. Deeelish We all left extremely satisfied with our meals and service. I believe our waiters name was Reynaldo. He was very knowledgeable about the menu. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone. Very pleased
This review actually concerns the bar at Finca Popoyo. We have a place down the beach, so just come for the beach, the waves, the sunset and the cold beer. There simply isn't anything better than a cheap cold beer on bluff overlooking a beautiful beach with the sun going down. This is the vibe I come to Nicaragua for. Great crowd of international beach bums. They serve Tona and Victoria for a $1.25 and although the sign mentions food, all that is normally available at the bar is packaged snacks like taquis and pork rinds. The bar is open air and has seating for 10-20 in chairs, hammocks and on logs. Popoyo beach has a rocky shelf, so you have to be careful where you swim, but the sand is pretty and it runs for a long way north and south.Getting there can be a little tricky, but between local advice and google earth, your adventure will be worth it. In general, head towards Magnificent Rock hotel, but as you approach the last kilometer, look for a gate and road on the right, hopefully you'll see a sign for Finca Popoyo (maybe, maybe not). Just tell the guard you are going up for drinks. They are friendly. Bring cords or dollars, I didn't see a credit card machine.

Not much to say about this place. The food is pretty much what you find in all the tourist places in spite of the menu touting Mexican and Italian dishes. Prices are on the high side for ordinary eating.Ok, should also try the german dishes thats why there is a german flag outside
This is the newest restaurant at Rancho Santana. It was opened in March 2015 in conjunction with the new Inn near the clubhouse. The cuisine is simple tacos and quesadillas. They have spicy shrimp , beef and chicken. The chef, Jorge, is super friendly and will great you with a genuine smile. He is professionally trained and has worked in Manhattan . His attention to detail on this simple menu make it a true, don't miss place if you are staying at the ranch. All the tortillas are made from scratch every morning. When I say that, I mean that they soak the corn to make their own masa, grind it themselves etc. You can really taste the freshness. All of the meats areso flavorful and moist. My wife and I live in Phoenix and are able to eat at excellenttaquerias all the time. I would put Jorge's tacos up against the best of them. Even the ones that we have tried at Food Network winning places here. The atmosphere really is fantastic and can't really be beat. The place is a one of a kind design. All open air and designed under this huge, native, rainforest tree. Some of this tree is the shade over the patio. The structure itself is made of whitewashed wood and huge logs. The roof line is really unusual. The beach is right in front of you and you can watch the waves crash while sitting in the shade. For drinks , you can enjoy local beers and rum with mixers. That part is very Nicaraguan. The cost here is very reasonable. You must be staying at the Ranch and have set up an account. They do not take money or credit cards here. I am not sure but I think if you want to try the place and are not staying there, you can drive up to the entrance of Rancho Santana and set up an account with your card so you can eat there and charge things to your account.Jorge had a secret menu item, Vampiros. He told me that any taqueria worth it's salt will make one of these for you if you ask. The name comes from Vampires of course. He said it is late night food for the late night partiers ( the vamps I guess). They are made with two fried tortillas that have some melty Jack cheese in between them. Kind of like a tostada with cheese in the middle. They are then topped with your choice of meats and then cabbage, salsa etc. Super delicious . Try em.The hours are 11 am till 7 pm. Not open early or late. A great place for lunch or an early dinner. Don't miss it.

We visited Nicaragua in August and went to Casa Maderas on several occasions. The food was great. The location is lovely and at night time with the lights on it was very welcoming. I would recommend this restaurant in particular the chicken salad which is really nice and we ended up ordering this as a starter to share almost at every visit. Many thanks for this honest review! :)

Embrace the simplicity of food in a pleasant panoramic and home-style setting. Every healthy detail in the kitchen has been taken care of. Using the freshest ingredients, from Grade A Nicaraguan Beef (exported internationally), seafood caught 5 miles away
The view here is beyond spectacular, looking out over all the surf breaks of popoyo, and south to mountains of costa rica! Burgers were good but not amazing, can't beat that view though!

Translated, our name is The Farm and the Sea. We showcase a locally sourced menu. Relax and soak in the ambiance of the archi-tec-ture of La Finca y el Mar which was inspired, in part, by sea-side farm-houses in AndalucÃa, Spain. Open-air ter-races frame
Wouldn't say it's extraordinary, but there was decent food selection for the kids and adults. Everything is locally sourced and I must admit the ingredients were not only selected with care, but prepared well too. Unlike my review for the Mansita in Costa Rica, they were actually able to mix local and international cuisine seamlessly. Our friends loved their Margaritas and my wife and I loved the Mango Sangria. The only negative for me was when our neighbor kicked me in the shin for asking a question. Probably deserved it, but really wasn't trying to be a wise guy this time. O.K. I deserved it. Edgar, our waiter, a good one too, went over the two specials, the Flounder and the "Special Salad." I asked what kind of salad that was? O.K. I asked, "What made this salad special?" O.K., O.K. I sort of said, "What makes your salad special?" That's when I got kicked. I take my reviews seriously and want to be constructive rather than critical, but I do have a tendency to go for low hanging fruit for humor sometimes. Apologies to Edgar and Leef.
