Once one of ancient Greece’s most important cities, today Syracuse (Siracusa in Italian) is a lively town of about 125,000 on Sicily’s southeast coast. The city overflows with amazing remnants from its long history. Romans, Vandals and Normans are but a few of those who ruled here after the Greeks. In Syracuse’s harbor, Ortygia Island (also called Città Vecchia or Old City) is the site of many of the main attractions, including the seventh-century cathedral and the Fountain of Arethusa.

We had two lovely meals at Civico 25 during our stopover in Syracuse. The first thing that strikes you is the clean white decor of this smart, chic restaurant, and the second is the warm welcome you receive from the enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff. You just know things are going to be right as soon as you step through the door, and they only got better Our lovely server Lea was so charming on both occasions and a real asset to the company. We were also very impressed with the Somelier/Maitre 'd Mohammed who couldn't have been more helpful and knowledgeable in guiding us through our choices of their excellent food and wine. The enthusiasm and creativity of the quirky head chef Vincenzo was infectious, and his dishes so obviously inspired by his mother's skills in traditional Sicilian cooking. This came over in the homely quality of his food, enhanced by his own unique style and creativity with the first class ingredients used. The Octopus cooked sous vide in seawater and then served with watermelon was absolutely inspired and unlike any octopus dish I've had before - just amazing My wife's burrata was also first class and her home-made spaghetti with prawns amongst the best she's had. Deserts were also beautifully made and presented and typically Sicilian. Civico 25 is as good as you'll find anywhere in Syracuse and Isola di Ortigia and so worth a visit (or two)

The place of the cult of fresh fish at Ortgia market. Freshest fish raw, cooked or fried. The produce is local and seasonal and prepared with a lot of love. No Reservations, No Table Service, No Guest Toilette (sorry) We donât serve Pasta, Pizza and Cappu
Firstly, you need to consider the setting. Itâs actually almost a fast food restaurant. You go and order inside at the counter. The selection is small. The food is then delivered to your table (only outside) in plastic dishes. The food was very good. Tuna ceviche, fried seafood mix, guacamole and wakame salad. Glass of wine 5 eur and one beer. Total bill 44 eur! For fast food too much. But yes, the food was very good.Dear Dafne07, you are right with your observation, Oz & Cappuccio is not a restaurant. Due to our reduced space, limits in the kitchen and missing toilets we have only a basic take away license, which does not allow us to use porcelain or glass. Nevertheless we are using disposable dishes made from a biodegradable mais fibre and cellulose pulp, Oz & Cappuccio is Plastic Free from the first day of itâs existence. The high prices, compared to other take away joints in town has to do with our choice to use only the best in produce that Sicily has to offer. We cooperate directly with certified organic producers of vegetables and fruit, the fish is the freshest you can get in Siracusa and comes directly from our own fish shop where Marco Cappuccioâs father makes sure to give us the best of the best. Quality has itâs price, and the prices are public. It is your choice to come and eat the treasures of the sea and support the fight for less pollution.Fast at Oz & Cappuccio is the kitchen, not the food. The food is slow and healthy. Eating fresh fish is a luxury and 22⬠you spent is well invested. Good luck finding our quality elsewhere Marcin Oz

I chose this restaurant only because it was close to our hotel and it could be booked online. We were arriving in Siracusa from NYC on a Friday night, so I wanted to have a restaurant ready to go to. I would absolutely go again. It is a small place with charming and modern decor. The manager who also served us was kind and friendly. The food came quickly, but we were not rushed. We had water, glasses of wine, a caponata, and two pasta dishes. Everything was good, but the caponata in particular was excellent. Reasonable prices as well.

Restaurant, American bar, oyster bar open for lunch, aperitif and dinner. Fresh, fresh, fresh food, great variety of fine wine and spirits.
A small restaurant in Siracusa. Outstanding staff and really lovely food. We were made very welcome. Food included snack with pre dinner drinks, amuse bouche and pallet cleansing sorbet. The best meal we had during our 10 days in Sicily. Highly recommended.Thank you so much for your fantastic review.

It was a clean, bright restaurant with their varieties of caponata on display in the back; long bowls of oily black olives, vibrant grilled red peppers, and mixed caponata...blue black eggplant, roasted garlic, red bell pepper...we were seated at a small wooden table quickly. I ordered a glass of white wine and sara had sparkling water. (still or sparkling are your choices). The seafood looked simply prepared and dominated the menu. Sara ordered grilled swordfish steak, and i ordered mixed fried, a melange of squid, shrimps, and lovely whole anchovies. anyone who has eaten seafood at a coastal restaurant knows that you can spoil seafood quickly from overcoating, overfrying, letting it sit too long, etc. The little wooden box of frutti di mare were perfect. Piping hot, dashed in a little flour and salt, fried to crisp succulence. I snapped down a sardine, tail and all, quite hot. Then my salate de arance (orange) was brought, a lovely fresh salad of quartered skinned orange, adorned with slices of tender fennel, bits of dried tomato, and a very light vinaigrette. A lovely citrusy foil to the crispy fried seafood. Sara had the caponata, warmed and delicious, with bread. The swordfish was grilled fast and the steak was fresh and moist, not overcooked. It was definitely a seafood bar...the food was brought lickety split, and the service was spot on and very warm. I hope to go there again.

From the passion for tradition and cuisine, Kantunera was born with the aim to propose fresh and regional dishes accompanied by a careful selection of typical Sicilian products, craft beers, IGT wines
Not usually writing reviews but this one was well deserved. Incredibly friendly staff reading through daily/fresh menu. Food was great ( and Iâm usually very picky with food). Only spent 1 night in Syracusa so its impossible to compare. But overall great experience. Recommended!

Time out is not a destination restaurant but what it is, is a good local restaurant serving perfectly cooked traditional Sicilian home cooking at really good prices. It is only a ten minute walk from the Ortigia bridge and is not a tourist trap. It is pleasant and cool on a small dead end street. The staff are friendly and you can eat here at any time. My wife had the classic Sicilian mussel soup and as meat is not big in most restaurants in Siracusa I had the most wonderful meatballs. If it`s too hot for a big meal just pop in here and have something light, fresh and perfectly cooked.

Frido is a place that escapes conventional labels, where the needs of a fast meal meet a slow restorative mode. Fried and raw, two tasty faces of the same gastronomic coin for a quick break without having to give up quality and research.
My wife and I had just wandered through the markets and were just feeling like something casual . I always use trip adviser to research where to whwherewhere where best to eat when we are I a new townplaces to eat

Typical Sicilian food, fish, meat, vegetarian and pizza.
Wonderful alfresco dining in a clean atmospheric alley with view of the sea. Lovely delicious food of seafood pasta. Staff were soooo nice and attentive. We went back twice for meals. If you are dining during the popular hours and want to dine outside you might want to make reservations.

We were here as couple if days ago. The restaurant was full with people, w mix between locals and tourists. Even though it was full, the food and service was very good. The casatella Siciliana was very good too!! We had a really good time here. Before we left, the head waiter offered us a generous shot of Limoncello.Recommended
