Reviews on Seafood food in Stonehaven, Scotland, United Kingdom. Stonehaven (/stoʊnˈheɪvən/ ( listen); [stinˈhaiv] ( listen)) is a town in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It lies on Scotland's northeast coast and had a population of 11,602 (Scotland's Census 2011). After the demise of the town of Kincardine, which was gradually abandoned after the destruction of its royal castle in the Wars of Independence, the Scottish Parliament made Stonehaven the successor county town of Kincardineshire. Stonehaven had grown around an Iron Age fishing village, now the "Auld Toon" ("old town"), and expanded inland from the seaside. As late as the 16th century, old maps indicate the town was called Stonehyve, Stonehive, Pont also adding the alternative Duniness. It is known informally to locals as Stoney.

Visiting Stonehaven - never been before and decided on this Fish & Chip restaurant.We went there late afternoon. Both had Cod chips and mushy peas - absolutely delicious. The fish and batter were just right and a good portion. The mushy peas tasted as if they had been done properly from scratch - not just out of a tin.The young girl serving us was very good and we didn't have to wait long for our food (although we were the only ones in there at the time) - we liked the fact that they cook food to order which they tell you in the menu so you may have a wait. Pot of tea each - lovely cuppa! If we ever go to Stonehaven again we will definitely go to this place.

I've been visiting this establishment for many years. The food is invariably excellent, the setting wonderful, and the views stunning. That said, things seem to be going even greater guns for The Marine than usual. The food during my last visit was really outstanding, and it is helped by the management staying on top of such things as the venue's maintenance and refurbishment issues.When I need to impress visitors from outwith North East Scotland, this is usually my go to place. Keep it up.

We had seafood soup and fresh mussels, yum! And the surprise of a gluten free brownie with ice cream and hot fudge sauce!! New to the area but second time weâve visited The Creel recently. The food is really good. Staff efficient and friendly. Only slight negative, didnât enjoy our meal quite as much as last time because we were in the âbackâ dining room. Not as cosy and buzzing as main dining area. Not many places Iâd recommend but The Creel is well worth a visit.

A warm welcome on a very cold wet day, we ordered the Jumbo battered haddock, Scampi and chips, a pot of homemade garlic mayo, a pot of homemade tartar sauce, coffee and a coke.The haddock was very fresh, thick and tasty the batter thin and crispy . The Scampi were very fresh, but some were a little small as was the portion. Both sauces were very good. The member of staff who served us was very friendly and helpful. Overall a good experience very close to five stars only let down by the scampi size.

My mum and I were visiting Stonehaven, and we decided to visit the Tollbooth Restaurant after reading favourable reviews. It did not disappoint. The restaurant is set inside Stonehavens oldest building, and has great views over the beautiful harbour. Decor is lovely inside - white washed exposed stonework and art depicting the local area. The staff were warm and friendly and the food was delicious. We particularly enjoyed the prawn wantons which tasted so fresh and full of flavour. My monkfish main was perfect and my mum enjoyed her seabass which was a very generous portion size. Dessert was great too. Its fairly pricey here but in our opinion worth it as the fish is all fresh and locally sourced (the lobster is caught in the bay right outside!) fantastic flavours and the service is great. A lovely treat for my mums birthday.

We were here the other night. I love mussels but I am totally wine intolerant (most mussels are in winy sauces) Bingo - two different mussel sauces neither with wine. Curry sauce and tomato and chorizo, both delicious. My wife had the curry sauce mussels starter (delicious). I had the crab starter which was excellent. I had the mussels and the chorizo sauce as a main, lovely but preferred the curry. Triple cooked chips were excellent. My wife's duck main was okay but a tad overdone. Others had steak (happy) and chicken. Previous review suggests slow service - they are right, very few staff, smallish kitchen but I love the food and we were served completely in turn with our fellow diners (if that makes sense!?). It was two hours for two courses but I didn't mind, I loved the food and the four of us talked lots!
