Considered a delicacy which is both expensive and hard to prepare, prawns are a commodity that gets less attention than it deserves. ISSO disrupts this by reintroducing prawns as an easily available fast-food in a price bracket that's affordable to a majo
Only had take-out from here and delivery but the food is always very good and fresh! The sweet potato fries are a MUST HAVE as if the Red Curry. I'm yet to venture further than that, but will do soon! Dear MariaSelvEd,Thank you for taking the time to write us a review. We are delighted to read that you enjoyed our food and love the concept. We will be sure to pass on your kind words to the team. We look forward to welcoming you back to Isso soon.Kindest regards, Isso Team

It's just an average restaurant virtually on the pavement of a busy road. The standard is rather low and not suitable for entertaining guests. Also, there is no parking. We were greeted and seated well because the restaurant is full of staff. However most of them are just taking up space, standing around or watching TV or chatting. No one is really in charge of your table and as such service is poor. They do have alcohol. The basics are there but the prices are close to five star prices. A local bottle of Beer is Rs. 550/- but service is like at a very cheap bar. Their licence allows them to serve alcohol only during certain hours but if you bring in your own bottles, corkage is charged at Rs. 1,000/- per bottle on spirits and 500/- on wine. That makes it an un-viable place for drinks. The menu is basically Japanese and Sri Lankan. The Maki rolls were a terribly armature attempt, therefore we decided to give the entire Japanese menu (which is one whole side of the menu board) a skip. The seafood platter at Rs. 3,000/- was mostly over fried, compared very poorly with similarly priced platters at five star hotels and wasn't enough to go round the table. As a main its about enough for one person and as a starter only for two.The food as well as the service lacks professionalism and is like at a wayside Kade - although the prices are much higher and the curries aren't as tasty as in the Kades. Meat curries that should be slow cooked and ready to serve, are prepared in 5 to 10 minutes and a single portion costs around 1,000/- (with the extra charges) and are watery, under-cooked and terrible. Lentils which have been cooked well in advance are served without even heating the singe portions for Rs. 350/- barely had two table spoons of the curry. Many of the desserts on the menu aren't available

Upon entering, you are faced with a superb counter of the freshest fish and seafood you can find in Sri Lanka. You decide what you want to eat, how you want it cooked and what sauce and side dishes to accompany: Sri Lankan, Chinese, Continental, Etc. The service is typically Sri-Lankan: attentionate and smiling. Special Thanks to Danuka for making our evening a success, eating on the terrace overlooking lavish greenery and pond.

The food at this restaurant is fantastic! We visited this restaurant on our first night in Sri Lanka and it did not disappoint - a favourite meal from our travels. There was only one other group in the small, but comfortable and casual restaurant, but that was no problem. We sat on the terrace and loved the vibe! The owner asked our spice preference, which we liked as my tolerance for spicy food isn't great. All dishes were prepared to our palette and tasted amazing! We had the fish curry, rice, vegetable curry and poppadoms. They threw in side dishes on top of all that which were also so, so tasty (coconut sambol and beetroot dish). All Sri Lankan and all, totally authentic - a great foodie experience. I don't believe they sold spirits but the wine was good. The meal and drinks were not expensive - good value for money. The owner chatted to us about our trip and where we were from - a nice, personal touch. Highly recommend this place - a real gem!
