Read about this place on TA so decided to give it a go. Although the opening time is shown as 13:00 it does not in fact open until 13:30 so we sat on the seafront for 30 minutes. We chose to sit in the outdoor bit and a very pleasant waiter greeted us and was very helpful when we asked for advice on the wine and the snapper. His wine choice was excellent and at a reasonable price - a Muga white rioja. I had the turbot and my wife had the snapper. Both were excellent served with buttered potatoes. Very large fish portions cooked to perfection. Prior to this we had complimentary olives and calamari and we also had bread. We had desserts and coffee and the bill came to just under 100 euros. It was worth every penny. The waiter, who was not the owner, was brilliant and between my very poor Spanish and his slightly better English we communicated satisfactorily. menu had an English translation.

[Cerrado hasta el 29/11/2018] La Nueva Gaviota es un restaurante marisquerÃa de Santander que recoge la herencia hostelera de más de 50 años en uno de los mejores barrios de Santander, el Barrio Pesquero.
We flew into Bilbao on Sunday 29th July and were driven to Santander, arriving at a large restaurant area at 15.00 hrs. All the restaurants in the area were extremely popular, but La Gaviota found us a table for 7, including our three grandchildren. The staff were friendly and helpful, and service was prompt and efficient. The seafood was of high quality, and my only criticism was that the paella was rather too salt. The atmosphere was relaxed and the meal reasonably priced. A very pleasant first stop on our tour of Northern Spain

We were a group of nine, all seafood lovers except one. Our waiter TomasWas perfect, he suggested the specials, answered our questions. The wholeGroup loved his suggestions. Tomas also helped us choose the wine. The wine list is extensive. They serve half portions of many items onThe menu. Leave room for desserts, all tempting and home made.Service was excellent. Can't wait to go back....

Looking for a seafood restaurant in the fishing district of Santander? Look no further, you have arrived and you will hit! Specialties of seafood and fresh fish direct from the market prepared in a delicious way while maintaining the flavor of our sea.
Yes, this is not a romantic place. Unlike stated in other reviews, they do have table cloth and tissues, but the setting is far from romantic or cosy.Go there to have seafood and leave when you are done - but people are friendly and the 75⬠marisquerÃa (âtourist platterâ) we shared (2 of us) was fresh, honest and abundant.Thank you for your opinion, we thank you for valuing our products, which indeed are always abundant, and above all fresh and of good quality. With regard to your comment on the romantic atmosphere, we think that love and romanticism goes beyond where the couple is, and has more to do with the moment :-)In any case it's just an opinion. Thank you for visiting us. See you again, or so we hope! :-)

I donât understand why this restaurant is number 4 in Somo it should be number 1. We chances on Somo for our last night of our holiday and checked TripAdvisor for recommendations. Didnât feel at all welcome when we asked for a table at the top two recommendations so we wandered around a bit and found Las Quebrantas where we were made to feel very welcome. We were early (for Spain) and Somo seems to conform to the dinner starts at 9:00. Even though it was Friday night we were offered a lovely table in a smart modern setting. We were first in but by 9:30 all the tables were filling up. This area is known for its seafood and the octopus on mashed potato was a work of art and tasted fantastic. The mains of monkfish and low temperature roast lamb was also perfect. A good selection of wine and a bill of 80 euros which we thought was really good value. I canât imagine the food in the top two restaurants could beat this and service and a warm welcome is a major part of the experience so on that basis for me this has to be the best place to eat in Somo.

Welcome to El Galeon de Somo a seafood restaurant to enjoy the food and cuisine of Cantabria. We are located as you can see in a spectacular setting in northern Spain. A 80 m from the beach of Somo in a municipality Ribamontan Ocean east of the Bay of San
The food - some rabas (squid), and a bonito (a sort of tuna) salad, was average at its best. The price we paid for them - 32 EUROS, incredibly expensive, including a cup of average red wine and a Coca Cola, considering the quality of the food. And the service was simply appalling. Rather than welcoming, we felt like if we were a nuisance, a bother for the waitress, who treated us as if she was doing us a favour. She even forgot the salad and the wine, and after being left somewhere for almost five minutes (we could see them from our table), someone else from the staff had to tell her that they had been waiting for too long.

We stopped for a quick drink and a pincho before jumping on the boat. The gentleman was lovely and welcoming and we sat on the terrace in the glorious. The atmosphere was very pleasant and relaxed. We asked if we could eat something and he said the kitchen was closed but he could do us some snacks. He offered some french blue cheese and jamon, we said yes. He brought us something of a carpaccio of jamon and a basket of bread. Due to the time he took preparing (totally understandable) we didn't have long before the boat was due to leave so I went inside to pay. I was shocked and disappointed to find the jamon was â¬18.50. We felt like we had been taken a little advantage of, although perhaps we should have asked the price before ordering. A lesson learnt.

Restaurante familiar con más de 30 años de experiencia. Destacan la cocina casera, los platos tradicionales, paellas, pescados y mariscos.
The waiter's been very kind. The courses were very nice in size (two starters and two main courses were more than enough for two adults and a child). Clearly cooked at the moment, good raw material, so very good food. Not cheap, but totally worth it.
