I really liked this place, which is one of the the best Creole style restaurant I've been to. We started off with a mixture of three first courses shared between the two of us: accra de morue, squid and vegatable tempura. This was served on a platter with a salad and with two dipping sauces, one of which was very hot, but really tasty.Main course was tuna marinated and braised in an excellent mixture of spices, served with lentils (a bit like an indian dahl, only with addition of a lime like flavour), rice and a spicy cabbage salad. All really excellent. Service was exceptionally friendly and the atmosphere is fun and informal. I learned a bit about the Indian ocean island of Rodriguez, where the chef comes from. I have to confess to not even knowing of its existence before. They also have an excellent selection of rums. My wife normally has a cognac after a meal, but the lady who ran front of house suggested she had a Canaoak run instead. Its a blend of aged rums (between 4 and 6 years) from Mauritius, Nicaragua and Panama. and had a very light colour and clean flavour for a rum of this age. My wife loved it.

Everyone knows that the French have such a wonderful food culture and this traditional fish soup is definately one of them. This restaurant is known for its fish soup, but it also serves many other specialities.Eating this famed fish soup is both and art and a science. You are of course given the soup, piping hot and then the fish is served on a warm platter. You are also given croutons to add to you soup .There is also a garlic paste which can be spread on the croutons or just added to the soup. The restaurant is very generous with the portions of fish and soup; and you may ask for more soup. Ther are other speciaities, but I truly recomend the fish soup.

The restaurant is overlooking the beach in a very nice and chilled setting . We had bouillabaisse, grilled fish and steak all were delicious. The bouillabaisse portions are huge .

Some friends of ours have had a table at the terrace of the restaurant at Hotel La Tour for many years - for changing part sizes - as well as become steady guests and kiss-on-the-cheeks friends with the owners. This 14th July was no different, and we were a party of eight fo the late seating, starting at 9:45 PM. We were most certainly received as friends, and we got all the attention that the busy day allowed. The food iswhat you'd expect from a plac of this caliber and price level, but as most restaurants in France these days, their servings are 50% bigger than needed. Never understood why... The wines were good as well, so actually, I cannot complain, neither on the fritto misto nor on the linguini, even though the latter was not very interesting at all. Good company, great evening, but somehow, I ascribe it more to the good company and our friends' friendship with the owners than the performance of the restaurant, so somewhere between three and four stars, it is. However, the location is perfect if you like 14th July fireworks and envious glances from the crowds...
