Semmes (pronounced /sɛmz/, locally /sɪmz/) is a town in western Mobile County, Alabama, in the Mobile metropolitan statistical area. Formerly an unincorporated community, voters in Semmes approved incorporation of a part of the community as the city of Semmes on August 17, 2010. After a statutory enumeration, or census, the town was officially declared incorporated on May 2, 2011, by Mobile County Probate Judge Don Davis. The statutory census indicated that the town has a population of 2,897 people. It covers 2,100 acres (850 ha). The current Mayor is David Baker. He is the 2nd Mayor of the city, succeeding Judy Hale.

My wife and I had eaten at the Kraver's in Daphne, AL a couple of times but found it less than wonderful. We finally made it to the one in West Mobile, AL on Leroy Stevens Rd. and it's a different ball game. The food, service, and atmosphere were all great. Our first time there I had the tuna and loved it. It came blackened and cooked to perfection, at a great price. My wife was very pleased with her meal, as well. The next visit, I had scallops and a stuffed crab. I got the scallops blackened and they were excellent. The seasoning didn't mask the flavor of my food, either, just added to it. Stuffed crab was good, but pretty much like everyone else's in town. Price of crab is just too high to put much in it. My wife got crab claws and fried shrimp. Both were very, very good and the shrimp were gigantic. Can't wait to get back out there and try everything on the menu! They have a bar and you can eat at the bar, if you wish.Thank y'all for coming out and trying WeMo Kraver's. For sure a different vibe. Try the crab cakes they're going to have more crab than the stuffed crab just bc of the two different cooking styles. Thank you again for letting everyone know about your wonderful visit. The localsâ favorite for food, sports and fun. Since weâve opened, the Crimson Tide and the Boston Celtics have both returned to glory, and hell DID freeze over â the Saints won the Super Bowl!

You can count on Heroes to have consistently good bar food. I also like the new outdoor dining area, it's going to make a huge difference on big game days. TV's everywhere make watching the game you want to see very convenient. My only complaint, and it's probably due to a lack of good applicants, but service has been spotty the last couple of visits. I hope they are able to work it out get back to consistently good service.

Came here during my recent trip home for the holidays. My mother had recommended the venue from a previous excursion. Apparently many firefighters come here (my uncle is a retired firefighter), so I expected the three things upon hearing this; economical, fast, and most importantly, delicious. Was not disappointed. First thing I noticed is that the restaurant looked like a converted fast food Chinese location. Secondly was all the staff was all Asian, yet had that southern accent and charm. I am not biased or prejudiced (my girlfriend is from Thailand) but was definitely easy to see.I think this is one of the aspects that really makes this place what it is and worth writing a review for. I love 'American Chinese' restaurants. They have the American palate figured out and are always fast, fresh and economical. Cant ask for much more. The menu is extensive with combos and plates, but it basically boils down to fish, shrimp and fries and other sides in various combinations. The first time we came here we had to go and my mom pointed out that the food, while good, was not up to normal standard. That day it was ok and I didn't deduct any initial points seafood is finicky and doesn't travel well at all. My daughter then requested we go again and I decided this time to eat inside the restaurant to get the true experience. There are other reviews down-ating the establishment due to limited seating, and this is the only reason I did not grant 5 stars. Once we were able to eat a fresh meal that had not transited in syrofoam containers, it was an automatic win. I don't know what they are doing to the fries, but please keep doing it. They do not appear to have any seasoning, but taste as good as Checkers fries and are crispy for long periods. Unless they are substituting MSG for salt, have no idea what is going on, but I don't care. My son does not eat seafood (giving him time for his palate to expand and mature; he is 9) and was waiting to eat elsewhere later, so we did what we normally do, ignore him and order our own food. However, after eating one fry, we all had to protect our plates from my son, the Fry Monster. What I really found surprising, was that they sold fresh shrimp and fish and the entire array of seasonings they use. This was just special. I really want to give this place 5 stars, but you really need to eat this menu as it comes out the back and unfortunately, they just do not have the capacity. I believe I counted three booths when I was there. My recommendation is this place find a large location and offer extensive in room dining and watch their ratings and profits soar. I make a specific visit to Fogo de Chao each time back to the U.S. Have just added this restaurant when I come home to Mobile, AL.

We travel to Mobile weekly and stay in the area of Half Shell, so, we eat there once per week. We obviously love it. Being creatures of habit, we eat the same thing every week - I mean, once you find something you really like, why vary! We sit at a high top in the bar area - the one at the far end. We always start with sauteed crab claws - perfect. Mar has a half ceasar salad and an order of comeback shrimp. I get the Half Shell salad, entree portion, with a salmon topper. Service is always cordial and efficient.Oh, did I mention they have a cocktail called a Pink Pearl - think Cosmo with Pomegranate instead of Cranberry - excellent.And a short drive to the hotel!Greatest endorsement? We keep going back.

We went to the Wintzell's in downtown Mobile. The whole restaurant was dirty. It looked like no one cared.We left and went to Saraland. This Wintzell's was fantastic. It was clean, we were seated immediately, and the service was great. I wanted the tacos and asked the waitress which ones are the best. She brought me fish tacos and sweet potato fries. She said she ate that dish all the time. It was perfect. It tasted fresh and delicious. This is the place to eat in South Alabama. I ordered a dozen oysters on the half shell served with cocktail sauce.. heavenly tasting food! The gumbo was superb!!! Others in my party had oyster poboys, fish tacos, oyster platters, and fried shrimp. Everyone enjoyed the food served at Wintzell's. Service was excellent!!! Try it!!!

The quantity of food compared to the cost seemed weak. I remember back when I was younger going to Captain D's or Skippers and you could get an entire meal for around $5, now your lucky to get a piece of fish and chips for $5. The staff didn't seem like they really wanted any part of the establishment either. Wasn't bad, but nothing special either.
