Fish and Chip shop in Perth Western Australia (Woodlands is the suburb)

Have been eating here for years as an occasional take away treat for the kids. Always friendly, clean premises and chips with the perfect amount of crunch. The fish pieces are huge in the fish and chips, and often one serve with an extra serve of chips is ample for two kids.Happy they're our local!

The Groper & His Wife

We have been coming to this place for many years now and have never been disappointed in the standard of the Fish and Chips, but feel the state of hygiene has been let go. Why would you need to have a large Sulo rubbish bin on display in the kitchen area, and the benches all covered with rubbish. Not a good look when you are ordering a meal. There doesn't appear to be a Senior Person in charge, only a bunch of Teenagers who don't seem to be capable of doing anything other than laughing and joking with each other, instead of making better use of the money they were being paid and tidying up the Counters.Upon asking one Staff member if they had any wine glasses we were told to go next door to Pizza Boulevard and "pinch" theirs. Not good for either Business.Perhaps The Groper could take a leaf out of the Pizza Boulevard's book and train their Staff on the correct procedures or better still purchase their own Wine glasses. After all they are not an expensive item at Ikea.

We're Kiwis so we were surprised to find the main fish was NZ hake. So we ordered battered and with chips. Like others had told us, these were great fish and chips and served traditionally in paper. In our opinion the generous servings of NZ hake couldnt be faulted even though it had travelled a long way. The young man who served us was lovely too. Good on you The Fish Shack, you're a little distance down Weaponess Road from the Scarborough beach front but well worth the walk or drive. It's in a little block if shops on Dorick St. A 2007 winner of Perth's best fish and chips.

You would expect a dedicated fish cafe to serve some spectacular fish dishes- we were not disappointed. Attentive wait staff offered suggestions as to the specials and also about the relative heat of the curry dish. Serving sizes were generous and the presentation first class. A delicious meal was had by all.

If you are visiting Scarborough and walking along South Bay on the amusements side you will stubble across the Fish Pan. Known for take away on seafront but they have a restaurant upstairs. No access that I’m aware of for disabled, steep stairs and tables are packed in.Staff were friendly and portions were of a good size. Children’s meals are £5.00 which in included a desert, drink and present at the end of the meal. My only criticism was the fish had soggy batter underneath, should have been drained a little longer after frying. Tables are small so if you have a family not much space to manoeuvre.
