Salinas /səˈliːnəs/ is the county seat and largest municipality of Monterey County, California. Salinas is an urban area located just outside the southern portion of the Greater Bay Area and 10 miles (16 km) east-southeast of the mouth of the Salinas River. The population was 157,218 as of 2016. The city is located at the mouth of the Salinas Valley roughly eight miles from the Pacific Ocean and has a climate more influenced by the ocean than the hot-summer interior. The majority of residents live in single-unit detached homes, built between 1950 and 2000, while one third of the housing stock has three or more units per structure. Salinas serves as the main business, governmental and industrial center of the region. The marine climate is ideal for the floral industry, grape vineyards, and vegetable growers. Salinas is known for its vibrant and large agriculture industry and being "The Salad Bowl of the World" as the hometown of writer and Nobel Prize in Literature laureate John Steinbeck, who based several of his novels there.

My husband and I had dinner here. The atmosphere is casual and friendly. We both ordered grilled salmon. The server allowed me to change my meal sides to have double vegetables instead of vegetables and black beans. My entire meal was very flavorful. The service was good but not intrusive.

It is a fish market and restaurant. Short of going to Monterey and buying it straight off the boat, this is where I buy my fish. The dishes are simple and yet tastey. They are very accommodating also if you need a slight change of menu they are happy to do it.

Great value all-you-can-eat-buffet which included a variety of seafood dishes including fried king prawns, baked green mussels, steamed oysters, boiled spider crab legs, small baked cheese scallops and a selection of sushi. Also the usual Chinese starter and main dishes which I tend to avoid. But I ate some veg dishes to up my intake as always difficult to eat enough vegetables when travelling. Fruit & desserts were so-so. A cook also manned a teppanyaki noodles station - you choose the ingredients from a counter eg. prawns/salad/noodles and he cooks them on a hot plate to order. All this for $13 per person! Soft drinks $1.50, not sure about alcohol. We went at 7.30pm on a Sunday night and got a table for 2 straightaway. Casual seating and as expected in this type of cheap high turnover eatery, tables and floors showed signs of food debris and stickiness by the end of the night. Food was tasty and hot, regularly replenished. Highly flavoured and not exactly healthy but ok as long as you don't eat like this regularly.Overall a good value for money choice if you don't mind the mass consumption experience, a reasonable trade off for lits of tasty seafood at a bargain price.

Judy and I dined at Red Lobster last night, and something happened that simply blew me away. I'd ordered a steamed lobster, which arrived with an extra touch of kindness and caring attached...the shell had already been cracked in strategic areas, making it SO MUCH EASIER to open up and capture the lobster meat. I can't remember anyone doing that for me before! Also, we ordered the side dish of baked/smashed potato with lobster and shrimp topping, and took it home. It was a yummy and generous lunch today.
Tucked away in Salinas is this gem of an eatery that serves up the most perfect fish and chips ever. They have a great varied menu, but I can never stray away from ordering the fish & chips. This is quality hand-battered fish that is fried perfectly every time i've been here. Service is super fast and friendly. The restrooms are always clean and tidy. One would think that better fish & chips would be found by the coast, i.e., Santa Cruz, but the bonus goes to Salinas. Who knew?
