We were visiting family and friends in the area and going to a festival in Lafayette. While in Lafayette we decided to meet friends at the Boiling Point. We've been visiting the Boiling Point for decades. We lived in New Iberia in the early 1980's and visit frequently. Between the four of us, we had boiled crabs, boiled shrimp, corn, potatoes, sausage, and fried shrimp. All of it was out of this world. They really hit it out of the park. Service is very good, atmosphere is pure Cajun. We'll be back again and again!! Highly recommended.Thank you so much for this great review and the five stars. I’m very please that y’all enjoy everything and that my staff took great care of y’all. I will post this up for my staff. Thanks again Roxie

Bon Creole Seafood

Tiny hole in the wall type of place with a country vibe. The staff is very accommodating, the service is fast and the seafood is out of this world! If you get a large PoBoy plan on eating it for at least two days, they are HUGE! The only downside to this place is forcing myself to go someplace else to eat. I am there at least once a week but could easily eat there everyday if I didn't stop myself. You will not be disappointed and you won't forget the food.

Jane's never disappoints. You may have to wait a bit for a table but it is worth the wait. All the seafood is fresh and delicious. They have really great boiled crawfish in season. The fried rice is delicious. You really cannot go wrong no matter what you choose.

It's called Cajun Fried Chicken but chicken is usually the last thing we get. They make great, old-fashioned burgers that taste like they just came off the pit. Their fried rice is really good and they do a number of seafood dishes.

The St. John Restaurant

Let’s be totally honest about the St. John Restaurant. The food is excellent (4/5). The service is excellent (4/5). The service missed when we asked to take some home and she presented boxes on the table. At the prices asked a true server would have put the leftovers in the go box. This is just a bit of refinement you expect at a higher end restaurant. The atmosphere is outstanding (5/5). The presentation of the food was very underwhelming. No score for presentation but for the prices they ask I would have expected better. The prices are a bit high for the presentation, plating of the food, and overall service that was given (2/5). I would give them an overall rating of 3.75/5. For TripAdvisor that makes it a 4/5. I had the crab cakes with a stuffed potato. The crab cakes were excellent. Not the best I’ve had, but in the top 10%. The stuffed potato was a bit cold and undercooked. Stuffed potatoes are supposed to be soft and fluffy. This one was hard. I think that had it been warmed properly it would have been softer and possibly overall better. Had I sent it back to be heated then there would have been issues with the temp of the crab cakes and that was the main reason for visiting St. John. The entire plate should have been presented at the proper temperature from the kitchen. My wife said the crabmeat au gratin was very good. My 24-year-old daughter had a mix plate and she enjoyed hers saying “it was okay”. We shared a cheesecake slice for dessert which was very nice. The presentation of the dessert was excellent. Overall I would say the food here is excellent, but our meal did not stand out as being among the best we have had recently in the Acadiana region. We will return again as I believe that this restaurant has the potential to be among the best in Acadiana History. I believe the food in our area is among the best in the world. The St. John has the potential to be one of those restaurants that makes you remember the meal as super special. Tonight wasn’t on that level but they showed they have that capability.

We had been to St. Martinville many times but never stopped to eat here. The small cafe directly across the street from the St. Martin de Tours Church is cozy, comfortable, and the food is great. The waitress came straight out and said they had great burgers. She was right. The fries were equal to the burger. The prices were more than fair!

The St. John Restaurant - Moved

Reviewed By denisegdavid

It was worth the drive from Lafayette to eat at St. John’s. We went on Sunday around 12:30. There was a pretty good crowd (even with all the rain) but we were seated right away. Our drink orders were taken and shortly after we were given a basket of warm bread and individually wrapped butter as well as a small container of a specialty butter. We could not place the flavor of the butter so we asked our waitress. She said it was Steens Syrup mixed in the butter. I found it very tasty and even put some on my baked sweet potato. Our party of four all ordered different seafood items and we were all very pleased with our meal. I ordered off the lunch express menu which stated the items were available Monday through Friday but our waitress confirmed we could order from it on Sunday. I got the fried shrimp (7) which came with a side order of my choice. I chose a sweet potato and added a side salad for an extra $1. The portion of my meal was perfect for me. When I finished my meal I was very satisfied but not over stuffed. The restaurant has a case with few gift items at the check out as well as some T-shirts. However I didn’t check the prices. We will definitely be back! Great food, good service, friendly people and reasonably priced food!
