8.00pm one Saturday evening saw us a group of five in Grandcamp-Maisy Fortunately La Marée had a table for us. A very warm welcome by smiling staff into a very comfortable room with a view of the port. Suggestion by the waiter to try a local beer - delicious. Various fixed price menus available - we chose the 30 euro. I chose a wrap of lamb confit with a ratatouille and sauce vierge. Followed by beef cheeks with mushrooms, crème brûlée pommeau. All delicious and sufficient quantity- a real treat to find by accident. Consumed with 2 Bottles of a lovely red burgundy. For only 42 euros a head!Great value and will definitely return if in the area. Recommend to everyone.

My son and I chose this restaurant based on their menu and variety of fish and shellfish. Our server was Caroline. Her English was superb! She suggested a wine for me that I liked so much, I bought a bottle to take with me.I had langoustines as an appetizer and my son ordered from the pre-fixe menu. He had cod Ceviche ( raw) both were very good. I had haddock and John Dory poached with vegetables my son had monkfish with razorback clams. Each dish was fresh and delicious. Our desserts were also prepared in house and were amazing.Thank you Caroline for the great service and most enjoyable conversation

We sat at the window table of the upper floor overlooking the harbour and all chose the menu fleur de sel, that for less than 20 euro provided a perfect dinner of appetizer, main course and dessert with significant variety of choice. The seafood was generally exquisite but some specialities like the trio of tomato or the mousse of shrimps, avocado and tomato were exceptionally creative and well executed. The dessert were equally good.

We have just had a very relaxed lunch in this restaurant. It has the typical atmosphere of a restaurant attached to a hotel in France, with clean modern lines. The sea food was excellent and priced fairly. The staff were very friendly, we would return.

le vauban, one of the longest established restaurants in Port en Bessin, the vauban is hidden away in a small side street just a stone' throw from the harbour and fish market.seafood specialities abound in the two small and cosy dining rooms. daily inspira
I had great expectations as this was a recommendation from some locals. Best dishes were pork with cider sauce, skate wings, prawns and sea snails, creme brûlée. Goats cheese and tomatoes tartlet like a flan, fish terrine too dry, monkfish over cooked and smothered in thick over-baconed sauce. Vegetable and quenelles of potato grossly under seasoned, the latter dry. Wine chosen 24⬠- had price on a bottle in the centre of the table - a tacky promotion. Pleasant front area but not so good back room - make sure you are in the front area. Not offered water but bread excellent. Most people were having mussels and frites.

Staying near the town we went in for dinner, normally a restaurant on a boat is a tourist trap with food to match but this was excellent food at a very reasonable price and cudos to the young chef who prepared it in a relatively small open kitchen. Apart from us all the rest of the full restaurant were French, and English was a little limited but the staff were very helpful and cooperativeThe whelks, which were something new to us were amazingly good, sea snail sounds a bit daunting to many but beautiful sweet meat and the oysters were also fantastic and fresh. Some of the best scallops I have ever eaten, huge and tasty- preparation wasnât overdone but with such good food you donât need to overwork it. Wine list is small but more than adequate. The kids food was also great, well cooked fish, not fried thankfully for a change and my son loved the young dog that was on the front of the boat- not allowed in the restaurant if that bothered people. The complementary glass of calvados was just a bonus to a very nice meal - donât miss the scallops. Credit cards were taken without any issue.

My wife and I went here with my mother in law and brother in law for dinner. No reservation required. Being a fishing village we all had seafood. In short-amazing! From mussels, to periwinkles, shrimp, escargot, crawfish, langostinos.....never had anything like it. The Camembert sauce for the mussels was heavenly. 2 bottles of wine and fantastic service. All for less than 140 euros. Canât praise it highly enough. Absolutely recommend.
