Located just two blocks down from Market Square in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Jumpin' Jay's is a local foodie enclave serving refined seafood in a sleek restaurant setting. The quality of fare is unsurpassed, with fish arriving daily from local fisherman
I was visiting the area and some local friends suggested we head up to Jumpinâ Jayâs for a dinner get together. I had heard of JJâs but hadnât been yet. The atmosphere is fun and seafood chic, and in no way pretentious. The service (Bridgette) was knowledgeable, totally fun and engaging. She was terrific! We started with the fried calamari. Itâs was excellent! It consisted of calamari, some potatoes, a few shishito peppers and a nice aioli dipping sauce. We also tried the classic Caesar salad. And yes, it comes with white anchovies if you want them (gotta have âem!). The salad was classically tasty. For entrees we tried the yellowfin tuna special (there is also yellowfin on the regular menu) and the special served up some different sides than the regular preparation. The tuna was cooked rare per the chefs suggestion. The sushi grade tuna was melt in your mouth good. We also went with the lemon pepper linguini served with shrimp, scallops and mussels. The sauce was a basil pesto and there was just the right amount on the plate to provide great flavor and color. Over-saucers will want to get a small side of pesto. The seafood was cooked to perfection and the made in-house pasta was al-dente and flavorful! There is an ample wine list but they arenât giving it away. We went with a nice Oregon Pinot Gris (Brooks) that paired well with the food and was just easy drinking. There are also a menu of interesting mixed drinks for those that feel like mixing it up. We looked at the dessert menu but had absolutely no room left. the blueberry shortcake sounded so good (changes in season). We promised we would try them another time as there will certainly be another time during a venture to Portsmouth. Put Jumpinâ Jays on your list for a fun outing with terrific food and service!

Mr. Mac's is a casual, come as you are restaurant. But after the first bite your taste buds may scream for some more formal attire! Yes, it's that good! Sure we make America's best comfort food the old fashioned way. We do not use powders, everything is m
We have eaten here or taken various mac n' cheese items home dozens of times. A particular favorite is Buffalo Chicken mac n cheese. We often call ahead and just stop at the drive-up window and pick up our order and take it home. The kids and adults at our house love this stuff.Thank you fr your continued support. THE DRIve up window is fast and easy way to enjoy our food without ever having to get out of your car again thanks for the opportunity to serve you

Each restaurant at Wentworth by the Sea Resort is unique, and the Latitudes Restaurant is no exception. Open seasonally, Latitudes is in a separate building than the main hotel overlooking the marina. Enjoy the summer weather and the wonderful views. Than
We hadnât been here for a couple of years but our prior experience brought us back,we noted some changes in the menu but it mostly was what we remembered, however what we really noticed was the price increases of almost 30% on some of the menu choices we chose such as the lobster salad and lobster roll $29, the fish and chips $27, and my choice the crab cake sandwich, $25. The salad had a pretty good sized portion of lobster and the roll was overflowing but my crab cake sandwich was overwhelmed by the roll, the crab cake was not proportionate to the price and had practically no flavor due to the huge portion of aioli dressing heaped on top. I will say the prices didnât seem to hurt business as the outside seating area was full, probably the yachting crowd, I think next time weâll walk along the boardwalk to the Green Bean where we can enjoy the same view, eat well and save a lot of money.Hello BobinNH,Thank you for your recent visit to Latitudes. We are delighted that you enjoyed your visit, the view and the service. We welcome all guests, to include our local guests, hotel guests, families and the yachting crowd. Our prices are extremely competitive with the fine dining restaurants in Portsmouth and we have free parking and a free valet service. We hope to serve you in the future. Best Regards,Dean Pratt

We visited Salt at Wentworth by the Sea last night to celebrate my husband's birthday. We had visited in June for my birthday and had a lovely experience. We were greeted by a brusque hostess who quickly informed us there were no window seats available when we asked to be seated by the window. We were there enjoying our dinner and there were window seats open the entire time (1.5 hrs.). Chloe needs some customer service skills training or a new job! The good news is our waitstaff, Thomas, made the evening special even with the earlier service disappointment.Hello Susanne B,Thank you for spending your husbands birthday with us. I apologize that your initial experience did not meet your expectations, but I'm delighted that Thomas was able to make your evening special. Please ask for me upon your next visit. We look forward to serving you in future.Best Regards,Dean Pratt

We had booked into the Quality Inn and wanted a place for dinner. This restaurant is within walking distance. The hotel receptionist highly recommended this place and she did not steer us wrong. One section, the Bratskeller, is a bar style restaurant and more laid back while the Dinnerhorn is a little more up scale. We ate crab cakes at the Dinnerhorn and they were the best I ever tasted. The whole meal was fabulous and so was the service.

Finally tried it out since the new ownership took over and waiting a while for the kinks I heard about to be worked out. Sorry to say that from the service to the food and even the obnoxious âregulars â seated at the bar it was all a horrible experience. Will not recommend or be returning.

Have been eating at rays for 30 years, usually very good, tonight the waiter was inattentive, got our order incorrect, spent 15 minutes talking to customers while looking up websites on his cellphone while we waited nearly 40 minutes for our appetizers to arrive and it wasnât busy at 415pm...then dinner finally came and my daughters grilled cheese was burnt I couldnât believe the kitchen would put this out or a water would serve it, but my 4yo daughter was so hungry at this point and with the appetizer mixup already we just scraped the burned part off so she could have something to eat. My onion rings were cold on my plate and so were my husbands lobster tails. We left as quick as we could decided better to go then complain further. Sigh...

Really great lobster roll. Just warm lobster, slathered in butter and put into a toasted bun. I think they are the best lobster rolls anywhere. We come down from Vermont just to go to this place.

Visited here while in town to visit friends and former work associates. They all raved about the place, and rightly so.The food, from the seafood chowder, to the salmon with sweet potato hash and deep fried brussel sprouts, was fantastic. Had a few Harpoon beers as well (not available where I live).Only minor complaint was lack of friendliness from both our waitress and the bartender (we moved to the bar area after our meal). Both seemed a little perturbed for some reason. We were by far a "needy" group, and we spent well over $500 and tip accordingly. Maybe they had a bad staff meeting that day.Would absolutely go again for the food, hope for better service. It wasn't terrible, just not friendly.Thank you so much for your review! I am so glad to hear that you enjoyed your meal! Our seafood chowder has won awards all over New England and we are so glad you loved it as much as we do!I am so sorry to hear that the service that night was lackluster. If you have any additional information about the date of your visit or who your servers were, I would love to look into the matter further for you. Again, so sorry that the service was not all it should have been. Hopefully you are able to come try us another time soon and we can really wow you! :)

There are many touristy seafood restaurants on New Hampshireâs hwy 1A....but if youâre ever just north of Rye Beach and need a great, fresh, seafood âfixâ - head to Peteyâs (it would be well worth the drive away from the crap you get in Hampton Beach!)Super fresh lobster (they catch their own) at average prices and excellent (albeit not stellar) âChowdaâ, as well as the typical litany of fried everything will satisfy almost anyone with a seafood bent.....
