After opening our Bonne Bay Inn in 2015 with Tapas, we now, SINCE 2018, have created a full evening dining experience at our Bonne Bay Inn. The Blue Ocean Dining Room is the signature room of the Bonne Bay Inn. Over 270 degrees of Ocean & Mountain Viewsca
From the minute we walked through the door and were warmly greeted by the owner Darlene, to our server Lori (who also was our housekeeper for our stay) and to the diligence of the kitchen staff, we were impressed with the level of service and attention to dietary restrictions we had. The chowder was by far the best we had in Newfoundland. We were seated at a table with a lovely view of Bonne Bay and although we had made a reservation the dining room appeared to be large enough to accommodate the hotel's guests plus some walk ins with no problem. There are establishments on the waterfront that probably offer a more unique dining experience atmosphere wise, but if you are looking for more of a fine dining experience this is the place for you.

This review was written after a few days traveling in NL and even still, this was one of the best local meals we have eaten. People in our group of four ordered fish cakes, moose pie and the open faced turkey with fries, gravy and dressing. It was all delicious with hefty portions. Highly recommend stopping here for lunch when touring the park.

The Black Spruce restaurant was an unexpected treat when we were visiting Gros Morne National Park. Although we were staying at another inn (because the Neddy's Inn which houses The Black Spruce was fully booked0, we ate dinner there two nights in a row. The restaurant relies heavily on locally sourced ingredients including excellent fish (salmon, cod), vegetables, berries, etc. Our party of four sampled multiple dishes and all were very well prepared-not "fancy"but just 'right" -and the portions t were not so large that they take your appetite away. There is a small, but well selected wine list and the wines were exceptionally well priced, i.e., moderately and very good "value for money"). The local staff is friendly and knowledgable. Lastly there are lovely water views from both ends of the restaurant. The Black Spruce must be one of the best if not the the best restaurant in the west of Newfoundland.

We walked in without a reservation on a weeknight in June and were promptly seated. The menu wasn't exciting, but we were looking for alternatives to the ubiquitous fried cod that is served everywhere else. We had salads, mussels, and chicken. The salads were small and overpriced, and one had cucumbers that were mushy and never should have been served. I pointed that out to our server, who took 20% of the price of the salad as a compensation. The rest of our food was fine - nothing exciting, but fine. Truthfully, I wish we had gone elsewhere and just ordered fried cod again.

Fisherman's Landing became the favorite restaurant for my wife and myself during a nine day stay in Rocky Harbor. From the outside the restaurant does not appear to be more than average, but don't let looks deceive you!Inside, you will find friendly, efficient, helpful wait staff; good food served in generous amounts; and reasonable prices. This is all one can reasonably ask of a small town restaurant and more besides. We were in the restaurant during the passage of hurricane Dorian and the power went off. The staff did not bat an eye, but calmly informed the patrons that the menu was limited to two kinds of soup which was quite hot and would remain so for for a good time. Service with a limited menu continued. If you are there during the proper season ask for the partridge berry crumble. This is a taste treat. Thank you so very much for your review! It is so good to have customers that truly appreciate what we put into our staff, our food and our premises. The partridgeberry crumble is an amazing must have indeed. Cheers! :)

There are not a lot of options in Rocky Harbour for dinner options so Jackie's tends to be pretty popular. There is a pretty consistent theme for the menu and that is fried. Fish and chips were great. Fried cod bites were a hit for the younger travelers.Service was hit and miss but always considerate. They close early (8) in the summer so be aware of your timing.

A family owned restaurant specializing in traditional Newfoundland cooking.
The traditional fare in the province on a Sunday night is the likes of salted corned beef, salted beef, vegetables, boiled potato, mashed yellow peas and turnip/rutabaga plus of course a dessert [we had lemon meringue pie]. While the food was very good, even better was the meal was something typical of the province. The place has a down home feel about it. The restaurant is on the road to the left of the Ocean View Motel, any local able to point it out. It is a modest uphill stroll.
