We love Malaka Spice!. Both delicious.Fish satay was a bit on the salty side and penang curry was super spicy eventhough we requested mild spicy so definitely be attentive to the spice levels when you make a request. The waiter was nice to offer complimentary jaggery ice cream which was delicious.Love coming here. Fish Curry Rice

Reviewed By Maanas S

It took me 2 years to visit Fish Curry Rice on Law College Road but I finally did that. Well, the fact that I’m still a closeted non-vegetarian does hinder my plans to visit meat and seafood specialty restaurants however umpteen positive reviews finally convinced me to give it a try.Thankfully I had a few friends who instantly agreed to accompany me (not sure if it was the pleasure of my company or the opportunity to gorge on some delectable seafood that convinced them ).Sandesh gave us a very warm welcome upon arrival and immediately saw to it that we were comfortable. As soon as we were seated, we were served Tival as a welcome drink. That is a drink made from Kokum, almost like a kokum saar. Can be taken either to whet your appetite or at the end as a digestive.Jirmirya chi Kadi, a Karwari appetizer and Solkadi too were offered. I personally don’t like the taste of solkadi however the jirmirya chi kadi was outstanding. Downed 3-4 katoris of it. A definite #musttry. And then the hogging began. We tried the Surmai Fry regular as well as fried in coconut oil. Personally, loved the additional flavor of coconut in the fish, which itself was fresh and well made. Ditto on the regular surmai fry. The Bombil Thecha Fry and Prawns Fry too were just as amazing. The fact that all the seafood was extremely fresh was evident in the flavors as well. And the prawns were just perfect! However, I was intensely curious and eager to try their famed Tisrya Masala [Clams Masala]. Whole clams cooked and served in the masala gravy, it was fun cracking them open and eating the tender yet perfectly cooked meat inside. Absolutely loved the taste, I ended up eating more than my fair share of the clams. #highlyrecommendedApart from the fishes and clams, Sandesh also gave me 3 different fish curries to taste. Each of the curries - Surmai, Bangda & Pomfret had the right amount of spices and yet retained the flavors of the fishes. Goes perfect with steamed rice. The sheer flavors in the dishes we tried, was matched by the warm hospitality and efficient service that FCR is known for. It may have taken me a couple of years to visit FCR but it’s certainly not going to be that long before I visit them again.
