We were renting a house in the Uco Valley and as we drove in from Mendoza we decided to stop for lunch in Tupungato. Ilo just called out to us as we drove down the Main Street. Each of the five of us shared a large salad and had a main course. We tried one of the pastas, beef selections and a fish. The food was delicious and the service cordial and efficient. A wonderful introduction to the food of the area and our only regret was the two other times we tried to dine at Ilo they were closed so if you plan to give them a try check their hours.

We are tired of the typical Argentine offerings of steak/pizza/pasta, so went to Sabrosura. The food was fantastic, the service was fast and attentive, the atmosphere is that of a nice restaurant without nice restaurant prices. We plan to go back there again in our 4 days in Mendoza. They did not have the classic ceviche, which we wanted to try, but we tried what was essentially a traditional Peruvian sampler plate (can't remember the name, it was the last main course on the menu) and a traditional Peruvian dessert with limone in the name. Highly recommend this place. Just be aware that they do not accept credit cards.

This is a hidden gem on a commercial street that does not appear entirely promising, but if you persevere to find it, you will be welcomed into a courtyard blooming with geraniums and full of locals who come to enjoy the Catalan-style paella. Cooked to perfection, the paella is constructed from flavorful seafood and chicken stock that serves as a lucious base for a variety of shellfish, chicken and pork. We shared a portion of paella and had a bottle of house wine... 1000 ARG.
