We went on a recommendation. I was somewhat out off by the interior - old style trattoria, in the sense of bow tied waiters, brown furnishings and a loud tv screen. However, the menu looked interesting, with a selection of Lucanian specialties, and the mention of freshly picked mushrooms. We had a mixed antipasto and freshly sliced mushrooms with grana. These were good, albeit the antipasto was not as authentically Lucanian as at the excellent Sottopera where we had dined the night before. Mushrooms good. My wife had a very good freshly made pasta with mollica and peperoni cruschi. My pasta was a more disappointing rigatoni - not fresh. We then shared a plate of grilled vegetables - God. We had a bottle of wine, water and coffee for a total of â¬71. Not good value. I would not visit again.

This was my second visit with a large party. Restaurant staff went out of their way to make our dinner pleasant. Great food and good value! Nice ambience, too!

Torii is the kind of restaurant you definitely do not expect to find in Potenza. Soberly elegant (the Japanese way) and yet with a warm and friendly atmosphere. Food confirms the very good impression of the ambiance. A large variety of dishes (some of them with very interesting and original contaminations of culinary cultures), each with an almost obsessive attention for food quality and presentation. I like very much Japanese cuisine but I'm not an expert. Yet I would swear that Torii specialties reach a very high level. Very attentive service and reasonable prices related to quality.

This is a hidden gem in Potenza, where you would not expect to be served the most amazing seafood you could possibly dream of. Il Re Gallo is a classic Italian seafood restaurant, with a touch of inspired innovation. It's decor is modern but traditional, and the focus is on the quality and freshness of food. I was thoroughly satisfied by the quality of the service (Salvatore, the owner, is very knowledgeable and charming) and the delicious simplicity of the food (tonno in crosta di zucchine is a must have!). All things considered, this was definitely one of the best meals I have ever had.

Fish is your best bet especially every Weds and Fridays. The interior decoration makes the rest. The waiters are very helpful. You are sure to have the best and a fresh fish-meal in a city at 800mt above sea level.

Dinner at La Primula was delicious, freshly prepared and plentiful. The service is excellent as the hotel owners are always there. We stayed at the hotel and were very pleased with the breakfast also.
