On the way back to Ponta Delgada stopped at this restaurant for dinner and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food and service. We had the Sao Jorge cheese, jam and bread for starters. For the main course we had grilled swordfish. Everything was delicious and we were very satisfied. We will return.

On Sunday itâs hard to find a restaurant in Ponta Delgada, looking on tripadvisor we stumbeled on Calcada do Cais. Not taking the risk we called to make a reservation. A good idea. The food was great. Risotto, pasta are the house specialty. But be carefull not to order to much, the portions are big. Make a reservation, the restaurant has space for about 30 people.

We discovered this place by chance and we couldnât have been more satisfied! Attentive staff, delicious food and charming ambience. The food is cooked to perfection and the flavours spot on. Stay away from the main drag and relax in this small but distinctive place. The chocolate and basil cake is to die for (never thought it could work!) and the coffee cream brûléeâ is so delicate.

This was our first meal in Ponta Delgada and it did not disappoint. It would remain one of our best meals during our trip to Sao Miguel. We strolled in around 2pm on Tuesday and had to wait a bit for a table, but it wasn't too long. Their menus look a bit like a newspaper and I really enjoyed the novelty of it. We opted to try their grilled limpets, which I've never seen anywhere else. They kind of taste like a cross between mussels and small abalones? Anyways, this was one of the best things I have ever eaten on the island. My sister and I shared their fish of the day and it was amazing. In retrospect, I should've asked what the fish of the day was...but I forgot. It was really good though - another "best" dish from our trip. Services was spotty, but I think that's just what it's like everywhere on the island. Dishes came out hot and quick, so all is A-OK. While our waiters were sometimes absent, they more than made up for it in enthusiasm when they were at the table. Honestly, if you're in town, give A Tasca a try!

O Restaurante Xitaka caracteriza a gastronomia açoriana tendo como referência o melhor marisco e peixe fresco bem como deliciosos grelhados.
Lovely restaurant ambience, looks very popular with locals and discerning tourists. Itâs mainly seafood, but the menu has selections for the carnivores. An impressive feature is a glass tank containing live rock lobsters and Dungeness crabs, and an ice cooler with various fish catches of day, all for customer picking. For us, the stars of our order were the smoked black pudding served with pineapple and the grilled octopus (light smoke flavor and very tender. It was a while octopus! Sumptuous and outstanding seasoning with a drizzle of olive oil and crispy garlic! The house-recommended Vinho Verde was superb! The service was as outstanding!

Somos um restaurante com gastronomia Açoriana e moderna. Temos um estilo moderno, romântico, com música ambiente relaxante. Trabalhamos diariamente para satisfazer os nossos clientes.
During our seven-day stay in Ponta Delgado we sampled a variety of restaurants, from small tapas bars to larger restaurants. This establishment was, without a doubt, the best one at which we dined. The ambience is welcoming and cozy, the dining room is lovely, with an eclectic array of tasteful decor, and the service was very attentive, friendly and prompt. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her beef tenderloin, and I ordered a fish special, only described as a âlocal whitefishâ. It proved to be tasteful once I maneuvered through the large amount of bones. We finished with delicious profiteroles and coffee. While this review may seem to be ho-hum, it in no way reflects our positive feelings about this restaurant: the food was really good, as was the wine (Vinho Verde and a Tinto) and the service was excellent. Upon returning, this restaurant would be our first choice.

So the chef does everything, waits the table, prepares the meal, brings drinks, collect payment and does the dishes. The food is excellent, we went with eight people and somehow he delivered eight plates prepared exactly as ordered ! My only concern would be on a busy night that he may get behind on orders. Steaks and tuna were perfect

We chose Big21 based on Reviews. We were not Disappointed!! All of the food is expertly prepared and delicious. The Tuna was as others described, Amazing. The servers treat you like friends of the family. Our first visit (We visited twice) one person in our party chose steak, the server told him that it wasn't a good choice that night. But on our second visit we inquired, and we were assured that it would be good that night. And it was. Prices are very reasonable, and you won't leave hungry. I highly recommend Big21 and suggest that reservations. They always seem busy and full.

The food was a bit hit-miss for us, but I'm chalking that up to just a difference in preference. Service was TOP NOTCH and we really felt taken care of the entire evening. My family and I came in around 7pm without a reservation, but they seated us in no time. Our waiter was phenomenal and was really a highlight of the visit. We had the grilled limpets, grilled whole squid, and the blood sausage/grilled pineapple. The blood sausage was ... not our favorite. It was really, really crispy on the outside and it just wasn't our thing. The squid, however, was amazing. The limpets were also very good - but my mom and sister liked the one from A Tasca better. We finished the meal with a pineapple mousse, which was recommended by our waiter. I loved it.

In this wonderful location, overlooking the sea and looking at the wonderful North coast of the island of São Miguel from Ribeira Grande, we have created for you a unique regional menu, such as the Fish Stew made inside the Volcano.
Good location, dining on a balcony with a sea view. Short menu, albeit not remarkable. We ordered the 4-piece sample appetizer(4Q), which turned to be olives, quality eggs, a pork pate and guess whatâtiny packs of butter!!! Since when is butter an appetizer? â Bread was extra 2Euros!!! We ordered the 3-fish special for two. It was suppose to be served with hollandaise sauce but, no, we were served melted butter. While the fish were grilled well, the side vegs was the iceberg lettuce that I detest (useless veg without nutrients) and the a bowl of boiled potatoes. For the price, even for the Azores, we could have a better dinner elsewhere. In shortâ-NOT recommended.Hello @globetrottingYankee! We value every review and we thank you for sharing your opinion. We're happy the fish was great, we naturally want to give every customer the best possible experience but we understand that we cannot satisfy everyone. For instance, we would like to have known that you detested that specific lettuce, we would have changed it for something more of your preference. Please visit us again so that we can show you why we have so many positive reviews.
